Hello,

my evergrowing fear crushes me like a huge unbareable weight, brings me to my knees, brings me close to collapse.

I have read somewhere that geneediting can lead to humans geneedited by software eventually evolving to a slave-lifeform of this software, because it will select for those who serves its purpose, to be more successful than other geneediting softwares.

I wonder if something like that could happen on the GBATEMP forum as well. That users could become agents of a game that works within the frame of this forum.

With this idea I developed a prototype game on this platform:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/dont-open-this-thread.610847/

It is very crude, but it is a game. That already has been played by a couple of users.

Since there are many talented (I assume) developers and gaming fans on this forum I wanted to ask you the following:

If the users on this platform could be programmed to do certain things what kind of game could this forum turn into?

... And you missed the part where the site stated "amateur science fiction fanfic department"? :)

Considering most are here for news around video games and emulation, i would guess it'd turn into a game where the users try to communicate the names of active romz sites to each other while staying under the radar for the moderator-bots. :P

people here are already programmed to complain on every news post and review they see ;O;

This was always an amusing thing. That ISO site forever lives in my heart.

That is quite interesting. I thought of this as a rather theoretical thought experiment, but you are right. The forum rules force users to play a game of taboo, vaguely signalling instead of sharing information.

This is a sort of gameplay mechanic. Players who fail in this challenge get banned. With this aparatus there seems to be a real chance to turn this forum into a more sophisticated game.

What also is possible is the utilisation of cutscenes because users can post videos, and graphics by users posting images.

If there is no other option the forum rules seem to be the only way to program the users to perform certain actions.

How were they programmed to do so?

Maybe the bigbrained developers on this site can come up with a forum rules code to programm this game.

If the programm is able to keep certain users that are executing the commands and bring them to reproduce it could cultivate a slave-lifeform that serves its purpose to perserve itself.

Another thougt I had, is that it may be possible to use the reward/leveling up system as well to make users exectue certain actions.
