OK, that's looking pretty good then, guys.

Jam: you picked 2 PSX games, but because they're completely different we'll let it slide

Are you sure you can run Portal 2 well WHILE streaming? It is pretty demanding. You probably can, but just checking - everyone's probably gonna vote bubsy 3D anyway

Allright, then. See all of you other guys at the streams!
He can. He showed me while he was testing.

OK, good to know.

Didn't notice that provision cause I'm a dumbass. I was just trying to think of games I had lying on my PC that I could use and those came to mind.

My laptop can take a damned beating. I ran Portal 2 720p in a window at a decent framerate with everything turned up to full. The recording is up on my channel if you want to look.

Hey, don' worry boud it.

Anyway, I trust DY that it runs nicely. Good to see someone'll be able to run modern stuff, though DY has a capable powerhouse PC too.

OK, then. Ant, since you're going to be backup in case Jam's test keeps him from streaming this weekend, can you choose one game you'll play for sure? We'd do a poll but if Jam has to pull out there probably won't be enough time to let tempers vote on a game.

Okay, so I've tried streaming BUT, and there's always a big BUT, when I try to stream, the video is fine.
The audio, however, isn't. Now, whichever options I choose, it always uses my microphone instead of my speakers as an Audio source. If I manage to change it so that my mic doesn't transmit, nothing is heard at all.
Any help?

I'll try to assist ya a bit.

First of all, which streaming method are you using? (Livestream+Procaster, Ustream, Justin.tv)

Something that might work with all is to go into control panel>sound>playback and make sure your speakers are the default playback device. Then change the tab to "recording" and make sure your microphone is the default recording device.

If you clarify which streamer you're using I (or someone who knows more about Ustream or Justin) can probably help you much more, if this doesn't solve it, anyway.

Best of luck.

Procaster. And I'm on Windows XP >.>"

Btw, that's another thing I can't figure out. Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices, both Audio and Voice have only 1 possible option on Recording and Playback, and that's SoundMAX HD Audio.

Well...that is quite a predicament. You shouldn't have to play back and record from the same device.

It seems your problem is not uncommon, though, and in fact that sound driver causes those issues itself. A quick google of your sound card brings up tons of problems and solutions. Apparently this IS an issue that can be resolved, though. Try this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIofgxhiuHU...=response_watch

be sure to read the description and tell me if that solves any recording issues.

Right peeps, just a reminder that my test stream is still going on tonight! 7PM GMT I will be playing Doctor WHo: Adventure Games Episode 1: City of the Daleks. So come one, come all and watch me fail at puzzles and marvel at just how badly they can render the world of Doctor Who but still not complain, because it was free!!!

SO yes, www.livestream.com/jamstruthstreams at 7PM BST tonight.

If you can't use Stereo Mix/What You Hear to stream your audio, get a program called Virtual Audio Cable.

Make a cable so you have a Line 1 (using vcctlpan.exe), then set it as your default playback device.

Run audiorepeater.exe and set Wave In to Line 1, then Wave Out to your speakers so you can hear game audio, then tell your streaming software to use Line 1 as audio so game audio gets sent through your stream.

If you want microphone audio and game audio (so they can hear the game and you speaking without you having to pick up the game audio through your microphone) run another instance of audiorepeater.exe and set Wave In to your microphone, and Wave Out to Line 1. Untested, but this may also mean you end up hearing yourself. To solve this make a new cable using vcctlpan.exe and you should now have a Line 2. Change the instance of audiorepeater.exe that's using your Microphone as Wave In to Wave Out to Line 2, then open another instance of audiorepeater.exe and set Line 1 to Wave In and Wave Out to Line 2. Set your streaming software to use Line 2 for audio.

vvvvvvvvv: This has the added bonus of being able to be modified for Skype guests without a giant audio clusterfuck of echoes.

what we plan to do for streams (including yours next week) is the same thing we're doing this week; get a list of minimum three, maximum five games the streamer would be willing to stream and have the tempers vote on them. If you can think of three to five games you'd like to do, just let me know (Duskye's going to be away next week so I'm collecting the game lists for next week's stream)

Sounds good. Hopefully, I can grab a working male-male cable to fix my sound issue. I tried streaming my XBOX 360, and it went quite well.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
