Often there is talk on GBATemp about making use of the Search button. But did ya' know that GBATemp has a search form? The search form offers users the ability to refine their search with pinpointing parameters. Users can search by keyword, filter by member name, search by date, search by area of the forum, etc. Next time you complain that you could not find any help with 1 or 2 searches, take a moment to narrow your search down by using the search form.

hm, i can use the search form on all skins on a "guest" account that is not logged in, on a different pc with a different IP. not really sure what to do with this one so i'll leave the thread posted and open for now.

My bad, it's not a problem with the skins. It's that members cannot access it. Only staff can, and for some reason guests can too.

Edit: Okay, everyone can access it through the link, but only staff have the button for advanced search. The button for members was taken out to make the site faster.

I... actually did not know this. I thought the Google search was the only one we had, and I was disappointed because I thought the built-in forum one had been disabled.

Wonder why there aren't any links to this search form anywhere on the main navigation bar.

Wow, I actually didn't know this.

Why does clicking the search button take you to the terrible google search (also titled GBAtemp.net > Search Form) instead of this? I thought this search had been disabled since I couldn't find it on the front page ever.

How do you get to the detailed search form aside from the link in the OP?

Well this is certainly new. I had no idea that the forum had such a feature. I wish I knew this a few days ago when I was searching for a certain thread but its nice to know now.

Nothing wrong with the old Google one, that's the one I've been using all of the time.

Yeah there's nothing wrong with the Google one, its just that every once in awhile I needed the advanced one. And to get to that I had to search for a link to it in another thread.

And as for the advanced search putting strian on the servers, its another reason to switch from IPB to something that is more than 1% useful.

I don't like being limited to longer words, when things such as "GBA" and "GCN" etc are three characters.

the google search is, basically useless, it takes no account of chronology what so ever. You can access the proper search if you switch to the classic skin however.
