It's still pretty old. 10+ years old. My guess is more around 15 years based on where I was living at the time when I first bought it. The microsd version came out back when a lot of models still used minisd. I actually "upgraded" from the mini sd version to the micro sd version. Thanks for the information.
But I don't think they are that extremely old, as they contain a microSD.![]()
It and the one of the m3 carts were the first carts to use microsd. If I remember correctly, the m3 was first. But the m3 cost maybe double the supercard.
The slow memory in the device was really a shame. Yes it played most games just fine. But there were many games that did have slow down. I never got a lot of use out of it back then.
The original ez flash iv with the minisd got a lot more use from me during the prime of gba.
Even when minisd cards became harder to find. The original ez iv along with my X-ROM were used the longest. The usb link port flasher for the xrom was a blessing when I finally stopped using an old Win2000 machine with a parallel port to use my old f2a and bung carts.
And as for the point of this thread, current carts are infinitely better. Even just for the sdhc support. I dug out some of my old carts recently and I'm surprised they still work and the battery is good. Don't have to worry about corruption on NOR as much as an old sd card.
