ROM Hack GBA Cheat Patches?

I'm using a R4 and a EZ 3-in-1 and I want to know is there anyway to use cheats on the 3-in-1 with the GBA games?

Ips patches, Trainers, etc?

Me too!

I have been trying to take a 128KB from R4\GBA\SAVE, run the patched ROM on VBA to acquire items,
save and get the .sav file back to the 3in1. But the VBA save is 64KB and 3-in1 will not accept it.

Any ideas?

There is a "Cheat info" box in EZ4_Client 1.03, but I do not know how to use it. The link from the
review to the *.CHT faq is dead.

I have the (Ruby) ROM patched for Pause and Resume, Flash to SRAM save, and (non)Real Time Clock.

Try some of the cheats in EZClient (the EZ1/2 app) and EZManager with EZ4 Client (the ones from the people that did the NCard should also work). you can even make your own:

Thanks, the clt vs. cht info in the sosuke link may be what I need.

I am still hoping to find a way to make VBA create a Pokemon.sav file that the 3in1 will accept.

I finally found a good cheat procedure for R4+3in1 using the save file. Example is for Ruby.

On PC:
Run an UN-patched Pokemon Ruby(U).GBA file with VBA.
(VBA/Options/Emulator/Save Type/Flash 128k)
Do many Cheats, Save Game ( makes 128KB Pokemon Ruby(U).sav file).

On PC/MicroSD:
Copy \VBA\Battery\Pokemon Ruby(U).sav ==> R4\GBA\SAVE\POKEMON RUBY AXVE.SAV
Copy PATCHED RUBY.GBA file to R4\GBA (if it is not already there).

On R4+3in1:
Boot R4, Choose "Game", run 3in1_ExpPack_Tool.nds
Select RUBY.GBA, (Press (A) IF RUBY is not the current NOR game).
Press (Y) to Restore the save for the NOR game from the R4 save file.
Press (X) to run the Patched Ruby ROM with the Cheat-filled save file!!!

You can copy the 3in1 save to the R4, then to PC, Import Battery File into VBA, rinse, repeat.

would either of you have any idea as to how to cheat on the EZ Flash IV card for GBA? I downloaded a jargantic .cht file but I can't figure out what to do with them.

On R4+3in1:
Boot R4, Choose "Game", run 3in1_ExpPack_Tool.nds
Select RUBY.GBA, (Press (A) IF RUBY is not the current NOR game).
Press (Y) to Restore the save for the NOR game from the R4 save file.

i will have to try that using other slot 1 cards and gba exploader...
and somehow find a save file with cheats for some of the roms i wanna play

In the EZ-Flash IV Client program after you pick your game you pick your cheat file in the area marked below:

this will patch the game and cheats active when gba starts...and after loading rom to nor it doesnt matter about wich slot 1 card at all? if that is the case i will definately be trying that.

Not every ROM allows you to access that cheat area. Is there something that has to be done to the ROM in order for that area to become accessible?

It might have to do with the so called xcode database- part of the old EZ cards and how they work involved that. If it is not on bundle from filetrip http://filetrip.net/f4753-EZ4-Client-2009-04-03.html then you are out of luck (nobody has managed/really tried that hard at reverse engineering the format yet).

GBAATM is doing quite well these days though (certainly a more than viable replacement for the patchy engines that these GBA slot cards sport) and as nobody linked it earlier (probably because this is an ancient thread) http://cheats.gbatemp.net/GBA/
