Attempting to put an AGS-101 screen in my GBA. Ordered the 40 pin ribbon adapter from god of gaming. When it’s connected to the GBA motherboard via the adapter, the backlight and power light flicker on before immediately shutting off. If I disconnect the screen but leave the adapter connected, the GBA motherboard boots up fine and plays the intro noise. If I connect the screen back to the SP motherboard, the whole system boots up fine. Am I missing something, did I do something wrong, or did the adapter I get ship faulty? Is there any way to tell?

Have you tried with the charge cable in? Some of that has me wondering if it is gobbling too much power, though that could also mean something is shorted out (would be guessing on the screen side if it works when that is not connected).

It could well be a faulty board but not that many around here particularly go in for the screen replacements such that we have decent fault finding flow charts as it were.

Yeah that sounds like it might be a faulty board, I'd reach back out to where you bought it from to see if they can either help or replace it.
