Hell, I could probably program something better than that.

Nasty menu. Cash cow franchise. Urk. I mean come on, recycling old games cuts so much of the work out that it's not difficult to find the time to make a real menu loader. This just screams "churned out for cash so we'll get some programmer to do it in an hour flat (probably less)". I know that's the point of the series but come on, put some effort in!

Actually I really liked those NES pirate carts...anyone knows what that menu music was called? It was really catchy. Heck I still even remember it.

Yes, sadly it is. I even included a scan of the cart and the box just to show that it IS a official retail cart and not a bootleg.

Depends on the cart. I liked the music on those "Contra Function-16" carts myself, never heard it anywhere else - I assume it was original. A lot of them just ripped something from one of the games or used some well-known classical music though.

bollocks...you're exactly right. I used to have a cart similar to the Contra-Function 16 carts that had the EXACT same music. It was totally awesome...especially when I was 5 years old and I got that 190-in-1 cart with that music.

I have no idea whether that music is original or not...maybe I'll rip it and and ask GamingForce music forums or something.

Why does crap like that count as a genuine release? If the menu would've been nice, okay (even then I'd have objections)... but *this*?

Well, there seems to be a real, commercial cartridge available...

I can't figure why any hacker would want to make a compilation of these two games anyway [IMG] Otherwise I wouldn't believe it's real either.
