you're quite late
there's a new publisher (=Majesco) which is why it's getting released :|
Sorry, but I just never saw a topic confirming it's new publisher.
nice ....any type of gauntlet game on ds would be sweet as
Awesome, can't wait to try it out.
wtf? check the site it's been cancelled.....again!
Since when did anyone care? This game's release has been more dubious than CORE.
It's gotten to the point where they've baited and switched so much that I think it's long forgotten. Gauntlet is definately not a good franchise anymore. It was back in the old days, but nowadays there's so many other games that'll grab attention.
so in other words, its the duke nukem of ds?
I didn't care about this game in the first place... A game that gets canceled and uncanceled over and over doesn't deserve to be called a game.
I played the demo from one of the DS download stations. It was ... eh whatever. wasn't the engine reused for some recent release?
just answered my own question. Seems DS #4097: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (USA) used the gauntlet engine. The gameplay looks very similar as well.
I've come to the conclusion that this game is like a yoyo. I won't believe anything until I see it on a shelf.
Ah I wasn't aware they'd done that. It's a bad sign though, if they've ripped out the engine and used it on another game before it's even been released it seems unlikely that they ever plan on releasing the actual title. Maybe it was a test-run; if the game doesn't do well with a movie franchise name behind it maybe they Wizard Elf +co have no hope of turning a profit. The main thing that interests me about Gauntlet is multiplayer, I'm guessing the movie tie-in didn't include that feature but I'll take a look anyway.
I just don't understand why they would cancel it while so much shovelware gets the green light. Good or bad, I wouldn't have called GauntletDS shovelware. About 80% of the DS library should have been canceled, but it's out there, may as well toss Gauntlet into the same manure pile along with everything else. I mean, the game IS actually finished.
Guess it's not kiddie/cutesy enough to be considered worthwhile on the DS.
