I seem to have more success booting if I go to the ctrboot menu first and then choose Gateway. So I put a timeout of 2 seconds and then it boots automatically into Gateway.

Without the timeout I probably have about 50% boot to Gateway success (using ctrbootmanager)

I had to reinstall my old 9.2 sysnand (I had downgraded to 4.5) to get this all to work, then I used NinjaHAX to install homebrew browser and then menuhax. Here's my boot.cfg if anyone interested:

Code:
// Boot menu configuration
boot_config =
{
timeout = 2;
autobootfix = 10;
recovery = 9;
default = 0;
entries = (
{
title = "GATEWAY";
path = "/3ds/gw/gw.3dsx";
},
{
title = "rxTools";
path = "/rxTools/sys/code.bin";
offset = "0x12000";
key = 4;
},
{
title = "Homebrew Menu";
path = "/ninja.3dsx";
} );
};

huh? how do you use retail carts in gateway mode?
Use Select to open the game selector menu, press Up, and change the Mode to Classic 7.x. I think 7.x+ lets saves with 7.x encryption work, but I'm not too sure what they all mean.

Once you change that, give it a few moments then insert the retain cartridge, since it might not work immediately, just like selecting a game from the Gateway menu.

yes classic 7.x+ is for 7.x encryption and 7.x- for lower

Old 3ds.
If it matter I just upgraded to 9.2 from 4.5 using sysupdater method.
I also updated like that and it is working fine for me..
Have you installed the homemenuhax correctly and renamed the gw.3dsx to boot.3dsx?

Hi, can anyone tell me if the messed up 3d on N3DS is fixed with the update.
I'm on 9.2 mset now, and closing the lid everytime bothers me a little...

I got Gateway working with ctrbootmanager on my 2 hackable O3DS systems (O3DSS and O3DS XL) both on sysnand 9.2/emunand10.3
When added manually the gatexway entry it only showed 2 black screens, when adding it within ctrbootmanager it worked fine, after that i could edit it etc... and keeps working

here's my boot.cfg

Code:
boot_config :
{
  timeout = 3;
  autobootfix = 8;
  recovery = 2;
  default = 0;
  entries =
(
    {
      title = "Cakes CFW";
      path = "/Cakes.dat";
      offset = "0x12000";
    },
    {
      title = "rxTools CFW";
      path = "/rxTools/sys/code.bin";
      offset = "0x12000";
    },
    {
      title = "Gateway";
      path = "/3ds/GW/GW.3dsx";
      key = -1;
    },
    {
      title = "Homebrew Launcher Grid";
      path = "/boot_mg.3dsx";
    },
    {
      title = "Homebrew Launcher";
      path = "/boot_hb.3dsx";
    },
    {
      title = "Reboot System";
      path = "/3ds/3DS_Quick_Reboot/3DS_Quick_Reboot.3dsx";
    },
    {
      title = "Power Off";
      path = "/3ds/3DSQuickShutdown/3DSQuickShutdown.3dsx";
    }
);
};

Well, once in emuNAND, you just have to fold your console and open it again to "fix" the 3D.

Yeah, I knew that! ;-)
Besides evil crap like cheats the newest updates just brought more convienience like auto-boot to the table.
If the 3D glitch was fixed also, I would've updated my GW, but as it stands I gonna hopp onto the Hype-Train as soon as >FW9.5 emunand is possible for N3DS...

And bricks, don't forget about bricks :P
No, I quite agree that cheats were absolutely unnecessary. However, their latest updates brought very interesting things, such as support for both 7.x+ and 7.x- encryptions (so you can play a retail cart on several 3DS systems, including ones that are not hacked), support for retail carts in GW mode (so you don't have to choose between GW mode and Classic mode with a reboot in the meantime), and support for an offline method (and the most convenient and compatible one) to boot GW on 9.2 (so you don't have to downgrade).

I am guessing autoboot is the only reason to update from 4.x firmware to 9.x firmware, thats it?

Nope. Also the save encryption that will be the 7.x+ by default, and that's the one that is compatible with everything. For example if you buy a New 3DS, you'll have to use that encryption or you won't be able to play your retail games on both systems.
