Hacking Gateway Ultra 3.1.1 store/online question

I have been out of the 3DS scene for a while,
today i update my Gateway to 9.4.0-21.
My question is:
Is it save to update my console (in Gateway mode so i can use the store and play online)?

Sorry for this stupid question, don't wanna brick my son 3DS ;-)

Do not update to 9.6! Stay were you are, you can still go online to play. No eshop, find your updates at the usual places.

Do not update to EmuNAND 9.6 because it's not supported yet. Just stay on 9.4. Even if you can't access the eShop, you can try and search online for the .cia files you need like updates and install them using Big Blue Menu or devmenu.

He clearly told you not to update. So don't update. There is nothing more to it. You have to wait for gateway to release their 9.6 emuNAND update.

as for what i'm currently doing on my N3d's Emunand? Playing the hell out of Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy! Game is insanely good, half way through the original (Phoenix Wright:Ace Attorney) that came out for the DS and GBA in Japan

You could transfer those retail cart saves over to your n3ds with NTR CFW and SDF and then sell it.

when you update from system settings you're updating to the latest version because nintendo
gateway doesn't support the latest version of 3DS firmware

are you just putting the ds roms on the gw card to play it?

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy is a 3DS Game which I run on the Gateway 64gb 3DS Card, what's cool is it has the first 3 DS titles
I believe I could use the Gateway blue card to run the ds verison + other ds games but I think I'd need to be on 4.x version atleast

I'd never risk installing a CIA to sysNAND that always gives a chance of a brick, that kind of mitigates the point of using an emuNand in the first place also

Nope. DS mode doesn't work from emuNAND.
