Hacking Gateway red needed at boot of emunand

The card is needed at boot, but when it on emunand, may the card be removed to start a different 3ds on emunand?

Or the card is needed also when using emunand to load cia?

It's only needed to load emunand and load .3ds/.3dz games from it, otherwise you're fine to take it out and run cia's.
