copy the rom from your old SD card to the new one....the save is inside the rom image

I thought the save might be in the rom, but since the size was the same I discarded that option

just for reference, there is a few games that use this method of saving,
Pokemon X
Pokemon Y
Animal Crossing
and some japanese game that i dont remeber the name of
these are "card 2" games (also referred to as nand saving), even on retail carts the save is indeed stored within the same chip as the rom
there is a program here to extract and re inject the save into the games so you can back up your save without needing to keep the whole rom file
