Hacking Gateway Classic Mode - DS Carts all crash to Black Screen

I have two 3DS systems, one 3DS XL (sysnand NA 7.1, emunand NA 9.9), and one N3DS (sysnand JP 8.1, emunand JP 8.1). A month or so ago I was able to boot into classic mode with my Gateway and play legit DS cartridges, as well as my R4i Gold 3DS, with no issues on both systems.

Recently I find that trying to boot physical DS games on either system in classic mode results in a crash to black screen. I must reboot the system to gain responsiveness again, and this happens regardless of which DS cart is used.

The only things I can think of that have changed recently are

1) I installed the DS Profile exploit on my N3DS
2) I updated both systems with Gateway Launcher 3.4

Since attempting to run DS carts on sysnand on my N3DS, I have found that the DS Profile exploit no longer works on it. I have also noticed that CIAs which I installed onto my N3DS have shown up on my sysnand menu as well. I don't dare run any of them in sysnand, though they work fine in emunand gateway mode.

Truly these are troubling issues for me, as I loved having an 'all-in-one' solution for all of my DS/3DS needs with no need to switch between NANDs or reboot constantly. Can anyone help me to fix this issue?

DS carts don't work inside GW I believe. Not sure if it's related to the DS profile but it's been like that since long time ago and that's the oldest exploit anyway so it might be.

And when you run any DS game/flashcart, the Profile exploit gets removed.

The CIA issue is due to you having both sysnand and emunand linked. To unlink them, you need to format either sysnand or emunand through the system settings.

I was sure that I was playing my DS carts in Gateway without issue over the summer. This is in classic mode of course, are you certain it doesn't really work?

Yeah, I am. I've used only the Mset (Profile) exploit since ever so I can't say for the others. But at least with Profile exploit, it has never worked.
