You can remove entries with X in the boot menu (hold select if the timeout has been set to 0)

Does HxD work in a particular manner? Because I tried it for a friend (using though a Mac hex editor) and it boots but gives him just a black screen, no emunand.

Nope that's not it. Tried again with HxD and still getting a black screen...
