There is not such a thing as a major last minute bug.
Any bug that occurs shortly before release is/should be easy to fix. The fixing of major bugs is what happens while you write the program, not 5 minutes before you release it.

Ever heard of Heartbleed or Shellshock? lolol

I can't decide whether this is something to be proud or ashamed of.xd
... Look outside the thread and hints are sometimes given. Especially in the chatbox. Trust me, it tends to go in the ashamed part.
Think about it for a second... 1000 pages of waiting/hype/disappointment for an update. In less than 40 days. Just let that sink in for a moment...

Back on topic tho, I am wondering if CIAdev files will be compatible with legitimate carts, as it cannot be used in classic mode for now.

I think the release date has been pushed back because of some major last minute bug.

Might not be out this month or else they would have announced a release date already.

I can wait I guess :(
They never announce release dates. Check their own website.

It's already been established that the firmware is finished, but they haven't finished the servers for the payload. You'd end up with a firmware that tries to download nothing and still not be able to use your GW.
Or worse. It could brick. This is why they're taking so long. If by some reason the servers crash and there's dozens of users in the midst of the download, they'll most likely end up with bricks. It's not good at all.

Honestly, as much as I want this release to come, I don’t see it happening. Ever since the whole bricking scandal, I’ve been very cautious with this company and in the back of my head it seems like a scam. Which is why I’m holding back from buying one until they it’s actually released(if ever). They could have at least kept their customers updated with a friendly reminder that it was going to be delayed(I mean really, facebook last update 2 months ago and main website now coming to 1 month).

At the moment I’m just seeing reseller websites sell and restock the product and it would be pretty awful if gateway just fucked all those buyers.

Hi all, I've been lurking this thread since about 20 pages in, and since it is getting close to 1000 pages, I thought I would help you all out with my one message. You guys have made me laugh while waiting for this update so thanks a lot for that!
It's 3am on Tuesday, but I live in Australia so I know my timezone doesn't count for much ^_^

Great idea. bribe them

Oh... my... god. I read that post and... now I know what is going on.
I now know the dirty secret of Gateway.

First I thought it was their evil plan to make us wait so long that we are willing to pay them extra for what they promised. But if you think they try to trick us into bribing them to release the update, I have to tell you that their plan is even more diabolic. Remember them posting about not needing extra hardware (except the GW cart) to pull off the exploit? They never said anything about software.
Initially, they might not have intended to charge us for using the exploit, but then they realized that all their potential customers bought their product already, even though it was not compatible.
Until Christmas their user base became so big that they decided to turn against it for profit.
But how, you may ask!? From SonyUSA we know what is needed for the new exploit to work: some QR codes and a connection to an external server, where the 3DS downloads the Stage 1 payload.
All this evidence only leaves one conclusion.
They forged out the plan to release an Android/iOS App that you have to pay to get access to the new exploit. :O
That's what is taking them so long. It shouldn't be much of a problem to combine the process of downloading the Stage 1 payload with a Username/Passwort prompt.

This is actually a good decision. I'm an impatient bastard and had to have it right there and then. But with something like this, you gotta be cautious. Most of us are stuck with a paperweight until Gateway releases.

At least we'll be able to use it soon. Thank god. Tired of having a paperweight that barely counts for a paperweight.
