Hacking Gateway 3DS working on the New Nintendo 3DS.

My Gateway sits here on my table since last saturday, mocking me with doing nothing. But I teased it back by putting it in my 2DS and telling it how useless it still is...

But seriously, the wait is killing me. All I do is non-stop homepassing until they finally release their update. I nearly completed all puzzles already.

The Gateway box looks at me EVERY SINGLE DAY. When I sit down on the PC, when I leave my room .. God damn it. It needs a proper place. IT NEEDS A SLOT THAT WORKS.

It does if a business just wanted to cash out. Its not completely out the window here. But I think that gateway has made a name for itself, and I really feel that they will continue to be leaders in the flashcart business past the N3DS if they finance and hire well. They have the biggest name, the best reputation in this market. Would they throw that away? Don't you think they've been watching and working this whole time for the next big break?

I agree. Hypothetically, the video could be a fake, just to cash out. But that would mean it would be the last thing they ever do, no one would trust the team ever again (even if it were acting under a different name). But I think it's not very likely that it's fake - it would not be their style.

You pretty much answered yourself.

It doesn't make sense based on those facts. Like I've said time and time again, they're a business. And NO BUSINESS thrives on lies. It'd only work the first time and then you'd be shunned forever. It's 'kinda logical which route is the best one to take here.

I think that SushiKing does make a good point though. Timing would be right for a big name to cash out if they found the N3DS was the end. But thats not Gateway. Their history says otherwise. First off they aren't a clone of someone elses work. Everyone stands on the shoulders of giants before them, but they developed this internally. They were copied, cloned by less savoury teams that don't have the know how. They showed how it was done. They've pushed the limits and everyone else has struggled to keep up. 4.5s were never that hard to get, so Gateway has always been an option. Their track record is spotless. Its just not gateways style. And to doubt gateway... After all they have accomplished.... Even after they release a video that pretty much proved they are well on their way.

Which makes me very happy to own 5 gateway cartridges from legit sources. I have 4 younger siblings all with 9.0.2 3ds's.

Maybe they just released the news early because of sky3ds taking some spotlight and business away. Especially an update that coincides with holiday shopping. They could have just dropped it on us on the day they release the update, a few days before xmas. I thought after the announcement they were waiting on a nintendo update but it's iffy since they stated it will only work up to 9.2.

I agree. If one newbie company can do it, so can the original gateway team. They stand to make a lot of money in the future, I looked around and they seem to be the best and brightest. No short sighted people at gateway I think.

I think that Sky3DS's approach was much simpler. Emulate the cartridges. Gateway is more akin to a mod-chip, unlocking the full potential of the system. Sky3DS is just for stealing games. Homebrew is the logical next step with these more powerful handhelds. Sky3DS is so much simpler than a team developing kernel exploits.
Think about this. Everyone whose bet against Gateway has come up empty-handed. R4I Gold Deluxe, Orange Card MT-Card, same people trying to copy gateway. What kind of functionality do those cards have? Might have saved 20 bucks but now you've got nothing. Sky3DS 10 rom limit? If it hadn't been for greed they might have been worth having.

i think gateway should just plan for a Christmas release, and announce that as their plan, as i have seen a few impatient people still saying they will go for sky3ds as they want something they know will be released (although it wouldn't surprise me if those people where shills trying to make people think sky3ds isnt a stupid choice)

.....but really if they just said "we will have it released for christmas" im sure quite a few people would choose to get one as a christmas present for people

Just a warning to those of you waiting on todays shipment of N3DS, it will come with hackable firmware out of the box. Please for your sake, check whether or not N has released 9.0.3 just to be safe.

Yeah, but you really can't go wrong with their attitude at the moment. What if something goes wrong and they can't get it out in time? Man, people would be all over Gateway for sure, lol.
