I think the reason they won't give anyone a release date is because they don't have a set release date. They're just going to release it when it's done.
I hardly think they're just sitting and waiting for no reason, and I don't see how more email badgering is magically going to make them work faster.

So I really don't think you're going to get a release date out of them because "soon" is probably as much as they know themselves.
Like I mentioned a while ago, they hadn't sent any emails since the 31st of December 2014, of which with all that we know, could be a couple of possibilities.

1. It'll be like one of the previous updates where they went incognito without any emails for 2 months.

2. They're done with the update and are tweaking the host servers to sustain the load.

3. They're doing the exploit on previous firmwares.

4. They're preventing copying of their tech.

5. They're procrastinating.

6. They've got a hangover.

7.They forgot.

the bigger difference is that atari was made to work forever, nowadays consoles are made to last at elats his generation with full usage , sice they plan to make a new version sooner possible or that you break it and just buy aother :v (and I heard that the screen rarely survives a fall :v )

And well, nintendo (the base, japanes one) don't focus ons elling to kids like american/western ones does ... I don't know I portable gaming as a high technologything XD I would give a kid an hoem console until it get caring enough with the stuffs to get a portable :v but this is my opinion as a gamer that know more about this word and don't see it like a simple toy... :/ also if they break a 3DS they would srtar to be more caring about their game things? XD idk but when my megadrive had a problem when I was kid I got desperadte haha but the mostly careless thing i did was spinning a tamagochi on my finger , it flew away from my finger and broke the screen .. since that I never cared bad of an eletronic device lololo

Well, originally they didn't market to kids here. I have some old Playboy magazines (don't judge me) with ads for the NES. I think eventually it became a "family" oriented system after they saw that kids wanted to play and, to be fair, characters like Mario appealed to children. Maybe not DESIGNED for them originally, but the design drew them in.

In the U.S., and some might say this is why so many parents are poor, gaming consoles are a "demand" of children. I'm not going to say if its right or wrong... I mean, again, I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. But I will say that one big reason -might- be Pokemon. What system does it target? Nintendo handhelds. What do kids want? Nintendo handhelds. Would it sell as well as it does without Pokemon? Debatable, but IMHO? Nope.

As for consoles becoming disposable tech? Definitely. While there are GameBoys in museums that have survived the lives of soldiers during the Gulf War (Anyone else remember that god-aweful "I'm proud to be an American" country song? Ick... It still haunts my head with propaganda.), now handheld consoles barely last ten years. Things burn out. BUT... there's kind of a reason? Intricate hardware dies more easily because it's just that. Smaller circuits, smaller parts, and the fact people WANT smaller and smaller hardware. The NES and Atari were advanced for their time, but they were VERY simplistic. Open up your 3DS (actually don't, bad idea). It has really advanced parts, delicate parts. Screens burn out more easily too. The GameBoy didn't have a backlight for example. Now they're LCDs and LEDs and, to be fair, these can burn out.

Cellphones, cameras, smart phones... even PCs. We live in the age of disposable hardware. I don't think companies are so much taking advantage of us, I think it's just the sacrifice we have to make for relatively affordable YET advanced hardware.

I'm placing my bets on them just ignoring emails for a while while they get the servers set up and then finally making an announcement on their website either releasing or explaining details to apologize and/or delay.

What we REALLY need, is a crash course on how to treat electrical appliances in preschool. -_-;
True.

My boys eventually destroyed their DSlites. We have been handing down our iPhones after two years to the boys and putting them in an Otterbox or Ballistic cases. Have not had one problem with them. In fact my iPhone 4 was just put out to pasture and after 4 years was in mint condition. ATT gave me $200 for it when I bought my iPhone 6 a couple of months ago.

My boys spend much more time gaming on the iPhone's than the DSI OR 3DS. That may change with an expanded library IF Gatewait releases and update. But I doubt it. Nintendo needs better screen resolution.

It's called "Parents".. A bit of a new concept, so still in its infancy.

Tch... to be fair, a lot of parents can barely take care of their own crap. Despite technological advancements being available to the public, too many people are still exceedingly ignorant of how to take care of these things.

My 3DS suffered 3 falls on concrete and is still in perfect condition (putting aside some scratches on the outer case) :)

Sky3DS is an aftermarket flash card that emulates an actual 3DS cart. It is in direct competition with Gateway.

I wouldn't quite call it "direct competition". Samsung's Galaxy to Apple's iPhone is direct competition.

Gateway offers you a new world with your device. Sky ultimately allows you to get a quick ROM fix. Nothing else.

Saying that Sky3DS is in direct competition with Gateway is like trying to compete with a race car using a bicycle. Sure, they do similar things, but one does it differently and has way more features and we all know which one would win that race. ;)
