See Phantom, the whole point of 'I told you so' is not to make the other party feel inferior in judgement, but to keep the party from making a mistake.
About 400+ pages ago when I said in a very subtle manner that this was a market blocking technique by Gateway, nobody heard it. I did indeed say that this would play out exactly like this.
And, it has. Unfortunate, but true.
Welp.. Noble intentions or not, most of the people are still here, 400 pages after. :/ As you say: Unfortunate, but true.

*Oh I dunno.. Maybe you'd like some Digi-poop with your Gateway, that's all. B-)

So not only is Gateway delaying their own release, their delaying Decode as well. Damn it Gateway, you're doing more harm than good right now! :glare:

I like the idea though, that when we release Decode, Sky3DS won't be able to support it and all those Sky3DS users that feel awesome now, will have to shove it up their asses and acknowledge that Gateway is the superior race :D

If 2Hack is right? Welp, it was nice chatting with you all, but I've got games to play.

..

Not you tho', Mr. Star. You and your team have a project to fulfill that highly interests me. B-)

I can somewhat agree to this. Depends on what you mean by professional though. It's certainly professional for them. :P

Yes i lol'd

Props to GW actually warning us in time. How many people would have their N3DS ' s guaranteed with a correct firmware, ready for them. I don't think sky pushed sales of the N3DS nearly as much as gateway did.
If I wasn't warned early, I might be on 9.3/4 right now, stuck with a sky cart. It takes news like this time to spread, and I'm just happy I got in in time :D
Same, I was just asked one day aboot flash carts for 3ds, if they hadn't said anything i'd have continued playing smash online and updated to 9.4 of course.

That reminds me, it may be extremely off-topic, but if you ever want to translate the thing to Portuguese (you nab two crowds with this, Brazil and Portugal) I'd like to lend a hand. It's what I'm studying for, after all. Even though I'd only be able to help with text translation.

Let's just hope everything speeds up fairly quickly. :)

yeah but this is the main issue in my opionion

"If you are wondering what native support we will bring for lower than sysnand 9.0, we can tell that after 9.0-9.2 we will start with 8.0-8.1 and gradually work our way down with support for even lower sysnand firmware versions."

but then they did this

"We know many Gateway users are eagerly anticipating our upcoming native firmware support for Systems over 4.5 up to 9.2.
We have currently implemented support for firmware versions 7.0 until 9.2 and adding support for lower versions every day.
We apologize for the delay but want to reassure our users that it will be released soon."

which means they arent releasing it and started working on the fw first which is not what they had stated

Well they had to include 8.0 support because there's no games currently out that could be used to upgrade to 9.0-9.2.
As for 7.0, I don't know, maybe it was a trivial half day job to add it after they'd added 8.0.

no thats not the point, people had already updated to 9.0-9.2 they said they were going to release it then work backwards. they ended up just working backwards than eventrully gave us a announcment saying that is what there doing, which essentially created a delay in release because it was suppose to be 9.0-9.2 first then all other ones. And that strictly coming from there post no emails.

Adding 8.0 support from the start was definitely the right thing to do because if customers aren't yet on 9.2 they can update with a game card.

When you release a product you try and make sure it covers most customers usage because otherwise you end up getting a lot of support emails and that costs money.
So try and cover 90% of use cases before it even gets released and you've got more time and money to work on new products/updates.

That was in my opinion their big mistake. People would've been totally fine with only 9.0-9.2 released, after all we updated to the version because they told us to so most people would've been able to enjoy it.
But as I understand it, the delay was caused because they wanted to include everything from 4.1 up to 9.2, to beat Sky3DS. Everyone would've been fine with the 9.2 release first and the rest coming later.

yeah, but if you go back were just talking about unprofessionalism. not whether or not what they did was right or wrong. they dont communicate well, and when they do its just about another delay, its just not the right way to do things lol

While I agree on that, don't you think the delay of the release did cost them more money than that support would've?

Sadly not. I wish I could tell you how long answering customer's support requests takes out of an engineer's time.
In my experience it's always better to make sure you spend more time to make a product idiot proof before customer's even get their hands on it than having to spend 4 hours a day answering emails while you're trying to work on updates/new features.

Don't worry, this thread will probably be still going in March...

Oh come on we got "definitely before 18th January", this is as clear as you can be. The GW team was always ambigious with their choice of words,
if they are that clear, it must mean they are more than 100% certain they'll meet this deadline.

not even close, because when they announced it, it was solely just 9.0-9.2 they announced lower fw compatablity AFTER 9.3 came out so, it was pretty much just for people who were lucky enough not to update, it was not there intention to begin with and did not cost them more costumers because the costumers below 9.0 were just informed about 2 weeks ago. that would not have impacted sales, because 9.3 was already out

But haven't we established that the team working on the Firmware and the support answering the mails are two completely separate departments?
