impatiently waits for gateway 9.2 support with money in hand lol
i dont need a 9.2 update but i want it for the sake of a larger screen for monster hunter, in the mean time guys let gateway have time they need, i hope they take as much time as they need, without pushing out a beta we can expect them to release the most awesome release on the scene.
I have a question. Currently on 4.5 consoles if you want to play roms/CIAs/homebrew etc, do you need the red Gateway card inserted at all times?
Some people on the Chinese forum have speculated that Gateway is taking so long in order to encrypt their exploit so as to not allow other companies to steal their exploit and I am guessing maybe other people reverse engineering it so that you can install the exploit without a Gateway card.

Yeah, that thought crossed my mind as well.
Technically, you may not need the red card, since you can install CIAs for games via the SD card in the 3DS, and Gateway won't make the bucks if the red card isn't needed.
It will be an interesting launch though...
blue card installed the 4.5 exploit and then u boot roms after entering emu nand using red card , but the red card is just needed to enter emu nand then u can remove it and play cia games.
If the new exploit doesnt use the DS Profile exploit what are the chances of custom .cia GBA games and the use of the blue card for DS games?
Gateway is not a charity so they are most likely going to put a sort of "DRM" on the exploit like the 4.5 console, which is understandable, in order to protect their business and keep customers satisfied into not thinking they are buying a useless product. I am fine with this sort of DRM, I have purchased the Gateway card, and Gateway is providing steady updates and features throughout the lifecycle of the 3DS. If the exploit is not DS-based and is by some others means, like a QR-code that anyone without a Gateway can do, Gateway has to provide some kind of DRM method.
Never tried it myself since I only own one 3DS but other people have confirmed before that with emunand updated to latest firmware, you're able to do a system transfer. I'm just not sure if the origin 3DS needs to be on sysnand or if it can also be on emunand.
And of course there's also the doubt of the new support having emunand or not. That's why it's better to wait so that we're able to fully know everything.
As far as I'm concerned any product that needs to use DRM to "protect" itself is a useless product, Gateway has had clones before and it prevailed because it remained the best, but when they tried to protect itself from them, they bricked innocent customers' 3DS'.
I only hope they learned from that experience and at least won't go that far.
If the exploit doesn't require a Gateway, it will be cloned, and if they're really delaying past christmas just to implement DRM, they've made a big mistake and would have been far better off capitalizing on Christmas.
But if that is what they're doing, hope they enjoy the at-most 1 month extra head start they'll have, hope it's worth it
If you get a game with the TUs tied to it I dont see why not. I think I saw a rom of MK7 somewhere with the 1.1 update in it.
Edit: Besides they have shown .cia support including devmenu, I dont think theres a way on installing devmenu on the sysnand so I guess they were using some kind of beta emunand when they recorded the video.

I will be surprised if they do release it today. (Hopefully they do) I get the feeling they're holding out until Nintendo release the N3DS to USA and Europe.
I don't believe that Nintendo patched GW's exploit in 9.3 or 9.4, how could they know what it was?
They might be using the exploit in Ninjahax that got blocked and Nintendo just so happened to get lucky and blocked two exploits with one stone.
