I assume that the main purpose to get GW is for "backup" game. Modding? LOL.

because i prefer cia

.3ds may slightly lag as it has to go through all the hardware and coding on the red card while cia is direct boot from sd. also booting cia does not require the red card aka longer life for your precious gateway.

I'm guessing that you'll want as much speed as possible when installing/reading .CIAs. Same would go for ROMs anyways, so yeah.

Generally, there isn't much of an issue using Class 4, though that's the "bare minimum".

CIA files do not have/need headers, so will work regardless for online play. I'm not sure but I'd imagine that they would need title updates as well.

would having games like smash brothers and pokemon ORAS installed as CIA be a good idea? and have the rest of my single player games like zelda and mario on the gateway3ds's microSD card?

Thats what I'm aiming for. The worst part is the updates. Unless the games are the same region as your console. Oo Not all updates are ripped in a timely manner.

BTW is there any chance to pick an update if I have 3 bogus Internet connections on my 3ds? I'm thinking on always keeping my WiFi on and only using it in emunand. So 3 fake Internet connection in my sysnand to stop it for getting online and a real one in emunand.

yeah, assuming we have emunand though....but yeah keep your 3ds in emunand mode and nothing will be downloaded in sysnand.....but if you keep wifi on in sysnand and happen to live near or pass a nintendo zone hotspot it will download a update via that, so just make sure if your in sysnand for any reason to knock wifi off if your out or near a nintendo zone hotspot

If your worried about title updates that requires having the latest firmware, both .3DS and CIA are the same in that regard. The difference comes in playing online, your .3DS files need to have a valid header from someones retail game (.3DZ). While CIA do not have headers so any copy will function online (Provided the latest title updates). If you have a working emunand either are a fine pick.
