The problem with that is that while I may be able to download it all in one go, it would most likely take 24 hours of straight downloading to get them all. I'll take the 3 hours any day.

yeah except you could have them all done before the gateway update even drops, plus 24 hours is dependent on your speed...i could say "oh 3 hours or 4 years on my 56k modem", or "3hours or 20 minutes on my normal speed internet"

Edit: I should also note since you mentioned the N3DS... NNID only transfers if the region of the handheld/console matches the NNID region. So US/EU/AUS/JAP...

but don't forget that's cheap in Australia, in the shops they wanted 26$ for a 16gb HAHAHAH, if you shop abroad on Ebay you will get much cheaper for closer regions.

That's entirely dependent on you, are you getting a N3DS or using a standard 3DS XL?

I'd imagine .cia is faster. Playing legit downloaded games are much faster and have very short load times compared to carts, and the GW cart will probably slow down data transfer rates.
