They probably don't want to release anything with any sort of bugs. Don't you remember their bricking incident? That wasn't good for their image. They probably want to ensure that the cart is flawless before they allow it on the market, so that they don't get flak for it. Gateway has shown that keeping up support is a priority to them, so they obviously care about their consumer base.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the bricking incident was a part of an anti-clone measure to prevent people from stealing their work. Also, if support is a priority to them, they should stop giving us emails that don't explain to us what exactly the heck is going on. I feel like I spent $70 on nothing right now. They need to be more transparent about this...

I don't think I'm understanding what still needs to be done here. Yes, it was complicated, but clearly what they've done already is perfectly functional as seen in the video, so no more "serious" coding outside of stability should be necessary. Because no one is going to update anyway, it makes no sense to argue that "oh, the sooner they release it, the sooner Nintendo can patch it." Which brings me to my question: why not release what they have as an Alpha build? All developers do this; it's common practice. They should have done that by now, unless, of course, the video was a lie.

It's evident that we are all impatient here, so instead of making it perfect, they should just release what they have and accept feedback from people to make the development an easier process. Even if what they have is broken in some areas and only works on the New 3DS, they have nothing to lose. By releasing what they have, they prove they aren't liars, appease the community, and increase development in one fell swoop.

Why they haven't done this yet makes no sense to me. They already released a statement before the video saying not to update beyond 9.2, so if they weren't ready for a release within a week's time, then they shouldn't have released a video that looks like it's damn near perfect.

A lot of the work is probably packaging the binaries for gateway users. Getting something to work in a R&D test environment is one thing, but making it suitable for distribution is a whole other beast. I agree though....they should hurry up and release it.

You're forgetting something.
Apart from the actual software, stability, bug fixes and more they also need to write new documentation on how to actually get the cart up and running on 9.x devices and modify their website to reflect these changes.
And making videos. And fixing a bs hard drive crash. And keeping retailers/costumers up to date, while responding to gazillions of questions in the meantime.

We also don't know any specifics.. what if what they have shown was an early proof of concept with a 10% success rate, much like the original release that failed to load the exploit 50% of the time.
We just have to be patient.

My prediction: The blue card will get an update to make it behave similar to Sky3DS. You're gonna need it to boot Cubic Ninja. From there you're gonna need the red card to load your backups. So you would need the blue card every single time. Just theory tho, we'll have to see what happens :)

ppl should just get in their heads that GW doesn't release Alpha versions. Even with Beta versions, it takes a while since they don't want to risk damaging the buyers' 3DS unnecessarily.

If they haven't released yet, it's cuz it's not ready. That's simple. It's no use bitching about it.

yea anti cloning measure was exactly that, no reason to blame them they dont want cheap immiatations around. but people keep bombarding them with emails ( which if its a staff wont even help) all people should be doing is waiting. itll come out before the holidays im sure.

I'm fairly certain Gateway doesn't want to risk unfinished code bricking anyone's 3DS. They already had a spat awhile back in which they had to repair/replace some 3DS's so I assume they are trying as hard as possible to avoid that. I'm just as excited for 9.2 support, but I'd rather wait for it to be finished and well tested so there is as little risk to my 3DS as possible.

well said :)

It's more likely that the exploit will somehow leverage the new theme engine.

That's what I used to think as well, but keep these facts in mind:

Gateway's support was announced right around the time Ninjhax got released.
Then 9.3 broke both Ninjhax and Gateway.
Might be a coincidence, however..

I went thru Gateway's old videos and I found even more evidence to suggest that they use the same exploit.

First 15 seconds, in the multi-rom menu we see Cubic Ninja.
This video was uploaded September 13, 2014.

At some point there's just too many coincidences to ignore this.
I'm feeling pretty confident the exploit is the same, except gateway has found a way to get more privileges.

Citation required.
I remember reading that nothing actually bricked, but there was indeed code that intended to brick.
I recall something about people using Normatt's unofficial region free loader patch getting bricked, but don't quote me on that.

This might be true but the specifically said that no extra hardware is needed, remember?
