Hacking Gateway 3DS working on the New Nintendo 3DS.

The website I purchased from "Ozmodchips.com" were selling the sky3ds for only $10 more than the Gateway.

ozmodchips.com doesn't sell the sky3ds and likely never will since there is no legal use for them.

What is with all the GW elitism lol. Sky makes sense for people who just want free games without work. All you can/have to do is drag/drop files. Also, it is available now, so no need to be left in the hands of GW's soon.

GW is for people that want Region free games, Unlimited games, Rom loader, homebrew, etc

Sure GW is better, but Sky is tolerable, especially if you don't care about free games.

Yeah I find it quite funny that people are defending gateway to the end. Both devices have their pros and cons. Sure I prefer gateways features and such, but being able to play my backups right now is a huge plus for me.

So what happens when Sky3ds gets blocked. Is that "huge plus" gonna be worth your while then? The thing about people getting passed about Sky3ds is because they're just slimy and dishonest, they don't care about their customers, they lie to them and they lie about their competition. They fucked over their buyers and resellers twice now with their "new" card when they saw people cracking their card. I mean sure it works at the moment but what happens when it gets blocked? Are you really willing to pay another extra $100 for a new card?

I wanted to buy Bravely Default to play to tide me over until gateway releases their exploit, but the pal version has such a high mark up and it takes 2 weeks for play asia to ship it.

That's true but answer me this, why didn't they release the tool before the new Sky3ds? Because they are greedy and want to screw people over so they buy more. Why make another card when this tool allegedly works fine? That's right the money. If that's not enough to convince you what after they're after the I'm not sure what is. The moment they get blocked no one, not a single customer is gonna get to "update" without paying.

People seem to be forgetting that Gateway originally only supported 1 rom per sd card. It took a while for them to sort out that issue. So why is sky3ds getting so much flak when they have now informed their users about how to bypass the limit and are also releasing a new card that removes the limit altogether? I don't believe they are trying to rip off early adopters, only trying to make it better for people who purchase their newer cards. If they were really only trying to screw over customers why would they not wait a bit longer before releasing a revision fixing the problem instead of releasing it as soon as possible. They could have made so much more money releasing their new cards after Christmas.

Let's take a look at what's guaranteed from a Sky3DS purchase:

- As of right now (FW 9.3.0), you have access to the entire library of 3DS retail games, the eShop, and online play.
- No game limit (previously 10 limit, but new limitless card has been manufactured + tool to remove limit for old cards)
- Plug and Play capabilities (write roms to SD card with their tool, plug SD card into flash card, swap games with one button)

Now let's take a loot at what's not guaranteed from a Sky3DS purchase:

- Any card updates (history shows that the card is not able to be updated, as they put out a new version of the card just to remove the limit)
- Future eShop access (no card updates means the card can get blocked on future firmwares, meaning you will be blocked from eShop unless you update)
- Ability to play future games/online games that get patched

Most of this is known, but it's good to put some objective clarity out there for inexperienced people. If all of that sounds like a good deal for you, then go ahead and make the purchase. Keep in mind that Gateway's (future) solution may guarantee updates and eshop access in the future if they offer emuNAND capabilities, but nothing is known yet. If you don't feel like waiting or have a 9.3.0 3DS somehow, then Sky3DS may be a better choice for you.

Personally I would wait, as I feel Sky3DS' price will drop drastically if Gateway puts forward a solution that offers emuNAND.
