First time yes, so I have to run the "Format Emunand" option first then go to Gateway boot mode??

Yes, but before you do that, make sure you backup your SD card if you haven't already. Just take it to your pc/laptop and copy+paste it into a folder on your desktop, then take it back to your 3ds and format emunand.

That doesn't seem to be correct. I've set up emunand after 1 month of using gateway without emunand. My GF is still using the card without having emunand setup on her 2DS.. without any probs at all.

If the card worked on a different 3DS then it's a cart slot/contact issue for OP for sure.

Before I've setup emunand, it usually stopped at the gateway menu and I had to manually boot into gateway mode. But it works without setting up emunand.
After setting up emunand it now usually directly boots into emunand without stopping at the menu.

Mine wouldn't boot into gateway mode without a freshly formatted emunand. It would just blackscreen and never load. After some searching, I ran across the solution on another forum: I hadn't created a gateway emunand on the SD card I was using. Once I created one, it would boot straight away.

I do not question your experience. However emunand is not required to boot gw mode. In fact emunand is a relatively new feature of GW and did not exist for a long time.

OP needs to contact his reseller asap and report the problem.

So I kept fooling around and now I can't even enter Gw setup mode anymore all I see is the red dragon on the top screen and then screen goes black and goes back to dashboard

Did you update sysnand? Check your version in system settings and make sure it's still below 9.2.

Okay, try going into the browser and do both clear history and delete cookies. Then reboot and open the exploit url.

Done, still can't, what would happen if I format my 3ds? Would that increase my chances of the working ?

Do you have any data to loose? If not then I would start at square one, reformat sysnand then start form the very beginning. Don't use any files you already have, re download everything. Reformat the mSD card with sd formatter v4 from sdcard.org. Make sure you are loading up the correct files for your region. Etc.

Edit. One other thought. That rainbow bottom screen is what I would get when running the exploit from within emunand. Make sure you are in sysnand when running the exploit. We all get tired and rushed and sometimes get confused about where we are.

Sysnand? Isn't that option only available from the gw settings screen?

What files are region-dependent?
