I think I can kinda explain what happens.
He connects to the internal IP and taps the question mark, then selects "Open with new tab" and the browser crashes because it doesn't know what to do when an IP is loaded in a new tab. That's what I'm guessing anyway. Anyone with a N3DS try this?

Ip is really like any other address.... Just without a DNS lookup. There shouldnt be a problem with that.

Its hard to say, but the original tab he had open was an IP so it seems very unlikely for a crash to result from opening an ip in a new tab. If a crash resulted from opening an IP in the browser, as soon as you navigate to an IP in the first window the browser should crash.

So they scrapped mii exploit after-all.
Not sure why you posted this though, Nintendo might figure this out faster than Gateway does, and then another potential exploit for N3DS is gone.

Most likely not, old 3DS's have a different browser.
Kinda saw it coming, also probably the reason they are taking longer.
An issue on a browser with additional security means that the old 3DS' browser still have that vulnerability, or that the old 3DS browser is even more vulnerable on the latest firmwares than it was on the previous ones.

They're likely just taking notes on every exploit they can find. They're probably not even using them for anything at the moment.
Except the exploit uses tabs.... Old 3DS doesnt have tabs...
Edit: Also meaning that it could be a vulnerability introduced in a new version of the browser, in this case the one on the N3DS.
