Hacking Gateway 3ds flashcart: Unable to play 3ds roms on my 3ds v4.2.0-9u

I have a 3ds v4.2.0-9U. Just got my gateway 3ds for few days. I tried many times to play 3ds roms using the gateway 3ds flashcart, but with no avail.
Here is the problem. I followed the correct instructions. First insert the blue card and do the verifying and programming thing.
However, every time after I clicked system settings-other settings-profile-nintendo DS profile, the gateway menu did show.
BUT after I inserted the red card and select to BOOT GATEWAY MODE, it just went completely black screen and would never went back to the home menu to let me play games.

What should I do ? The gateway 3ds flashcart claims to support v4.1-9.2
But why this happens ?

Try running diagnostics on your card. It is one of the options on the Gateway menu.

Hi, my gateway 3ds flashcart is fine. Had tested it on my friend's 3ds console v4.5.0 and could work prefectly.
So I had totally no idea where the problem lies..

Have you used "format emunand"? keep in mind that this will format your sdcard, so make a backup before you do so

Why do I need to format the emunand ? I am not talking about the emunand. My friend's 3ds can play the downloaded 3ds roms smoothly with the gateway 3ds and no need to do anything on the emunand ?

you can also boot sysnand, but emunand is the safest if you are going to install stuff

I am just talking about why I can not play my 3ds roms .....Not about installing things.

Which SD card you mean ? The one inside the gateway blue/red card, or the one inside the 3ds console ?

inside the 3ds, gateway mode is all about emunand, requires 1GB of space on your SD card
