Hi,

Is there a way to backup your GW emunand firmware and restore it before updating. I have GW 7.0 firmware and and want to back it up so that if there is any issues with updating to 7.1 I can restore it.

If this is possible how would I back it up and how could I restore it???

Make an image of your SD card (the one in the 3ds, not the micro card in the gateway) with win32diskimager. If you need to, you restore it with the same program.

Note: This won't help you if you mess up and update your real nand, just the emunand, so be careful when you update.

theres an actual program that will extract JUST the nand partition(better than dumping the Whole SD for the sake of 1GB partiton...especially if you want to switch to a smaller/bigger SD card in future)

you can backup and restore emunand partitions with that

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

    For your R4

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
