What's different with the Mavica version?

Read the description in releases section link above ;)
  • Pocket Camera mapper support using DSi cameras (thanks Epicpkmn11!).
  • Added color correction option for a more authentic GBC approximation.
  • Added custom palette support with selection menu.
  • Added palettes based on GBC BIOS, including first-party enahnced palette support.
(You can play GB games in GBC mode and I prefer that this way...)

is there a way to tamper with the ff settings
to go faster

Edit: for context I'm using the ds version on my 3ds. I don't have an easy way to mod my 3ds

I have the lastest Gameyob version for the DSi, I wondering does gameyob support the sleep mode? Because I have a problem when the game freezes or completely turns off my DSi when exiting sleep mode. I for the life of me can't figure out why, I have a new battery and checked the cables of the DSi and everything is looking fine. I would really appreciate the help if anyone can.

Is there a way to "stretch" the image of gb/gbc games to fit the screen (with correct a:r) in TWiLight Menu++ ?
As I understand it GameYob is integrated in tw++..

So I’m just wondering has there been support for goomba mode on this emulator as I think I might need it to play pokemon crystal clear romhack and if it hasn’t been added then could you guys add it in the future I know I’m in no place to ask unless I’m just being stupid and it has already been added and I just don’t know how to turn it on

Dreen literally dropped the most badass GBC emulator for NDS, and bounced, never to be seen or heard from again. I wish the sound would get some fixes. Sample playback is broken, just like it is in Goomba Color.

Anyone else have problems exiting gameyob. If i exit via the power button or L+R+select+start it crashes the dsi and i have to restart.

Am I the only one having notable crackling sound issues at the beginning of Oracle of Seasons with the music that plays with the jolly travelers? I do not have this sound issue when running the game on mgba, or lameboy. I noticed the wiki says it runs the game fine, but I'm beginning to doubt whoever updated the wiki actually tried to play the game past* the opening cutscene.

Are you playing it on flashcard, DSi SD card, 3DS SD card...? Also, checked with other regions? I haven't tried it, but there are different things that can influence how it performs.

I fixed 0.5.2 so it would actually use gbc bios when running games from twilightmenu, not just from internal file select menu

bios goes into /_nds/TWiLightMenu/emulators alongside gameyob.nds

also I moved the config file to /_nds/gameyob.ini to keep sd card root clean

Nice that some work is still being done on GameYob, even if it's just minor bugfixes. Cheers.

Is there a fix for this? I'm using TWiLightMenu on New 3DS. Tried the patched ROM (replaced text wtih English) and unpatched ROM, the sound at the beginning of the title screen is a continuous feedback note for a few seconds instead of "Let's Telefang".

Haven't tried the latest GameYob updates in here yet.

I guess the sound emulation just doesnt implement whatever telefang uses. the people who worked on the decompilation might be able to give some pointers about how this voice sample works, and someone who understands how to write emulators could use that information to make a fix maybe

Hey there. While this does get the GBC mode working from twilight menu (Thanks, this was causing all sorts of confusion since I keep thinking I somehow had the settings wrong, LOL), I've noticed that sound timing is now unstable compared to the current stock release included with the latest Twilightmenu (27.9.0 as of this post). Music tempo seems to be freewheeling all over the place depending on how "busy" the emulator is. Currently tested RoboCop (tempo not stable during intro and getting into game), and TMNT III - Radical Rescue (start climbing the trees in the beginning area and music starts going superspeed). This is with Sound Timing Fix set to On.

Im running the Gameyob build you attached on a DS Phat via a flashcard with twilightmenu 27.9.0 installed.

yeah, I have no idea what build is actually included in twilightmenu. the build doesnt show a version or commit number, and on twilightmenu github it's just a plain prebuilt binary in a folder

so it's possible that the one in twilightmenu has some bug fixes that the original 0.5.2 didn't have, but without knowing what twilightmenu uses I cant know what to build unfortunately

also I did try building gameyob mavica, but I can't seem to get the toolchain right or something because the build doesn't work for me. maybe I would have better success with ds-homebrew gameyob using blocksds, if I can be bothered taking the time to get blocksds set up

I remember there was some hotfix branch on the 0.5.2 github that may have included newer code, but I don't recall if that got then merged into the main 5.2 branch or if one still needs to clone .5.2, pull the changes from the hotfix branch, then compile to get whatever's in Twilightmenu's build. I'm also not sure where twilightmenu is sourcing that build either.

Mavica's build is equally behind whatever's in twilightmenu despite the additional custom palette stuff. Case in point -- on Infinity by Incub8 games, the text box rendering in mavica's build (easiest example is the file load menu) is off and completely flat compared to both real hardware and the current twilight build, so clearly a few tricks got added somewhere.

it's not entirely clear to me what the hotfix branch was for exactly. but the 0.5.2 tag is only missing key mapping for A+B+START+SELECT (for soft reset), and a thing to "fix window Y position updating with window off" which I don't know what problems can happen when that patch isn't included. but the download on the github is from october 2020 while that commit was made in november 2021, so even the latest official download doesnt have that patch

@RocketRobz do you know which source is used to build the version of gameyob that's included in twilight menu?
