Just some details on Canada customs for you fellow Canadians:
Customs is there to tax imports (GST/PST), the customs office is there to clear packages into Canada and make sure contraband is not included. They are allowed to keep the packages for 2 weeks to give them time to inspect the contents and evaluate possible taxes, or search for contraband (some stuff it is just plain illegal to send via mail even though it's legal to have, electronics rarely if ever falls under this in Canada).
It is pretty rare that they'd "seize" a package for inspection (they open it, look inside and see if it matches the customs declaration), and even more rare that it would hold the package up for more than a few days. What is much more likely is that it has had many stopovers along the way. Always use registered/tracked mail if possible when getting stuff imported, as it comes with at least a form of tracking that canadapost will update if it's held by customs as well as when it is delivered/out for delivery.
