    Updated**
This modified ps3 is bundled with a media hub (which increases the number of USB slots from 2 to 4), an HDMI cable, and a charging base that can power up two Dual Shock 3 controllers at once. Apparently this voids Sony warranty.

So they are just replacing the old hard drives with ones with a higher capacity? I do not see why that would get under sony's- oh wait.

"GameStop may believe what is being modded to sell the PS3 that will be coming following a lawsuit by sony."

What kind of English is this?
I did not understand this sentence at all.

actually if you change anything from the original in ANYTHING it does. modded doesn't always mean a mod chip or some other pirate device. [IMG]

From what I understand of it, something in the system is modded in order to sell used PS3s and GameStop thinks it'd be a point in a future Sony lawsuit.

Off topic: also conversely keeping any one original component can make a whole something a restored original. And sometimes that one component can be ridiculous, like a door handle on a vintage car, or a couple of stones in a house.

I'm sorry, but your sources are crap...not sure if you personally understood the first one to be able to translate it. The second is just stating facts. Sure you can say putting in a new hard drive is modding a PS3 but it's an allowed mod acceptable by Sony. It's like saying you can't sell any refurbished system because it has been modified to work! (whether it be replacing the original HDD or adding new/working fans)

Also, everything but the HDD is a bundled accessory, not a modification.

This is just like a used car lot selling a car that the maintenance team souped up to the tens. I see no problem with this.

The title is very misleading. I thought it was going to be about gamestop selling ps3 with cfw without checking or something but nope just them putting a bigger harddrive, a crappy skin, and bundling some junk with it.

5400 rpm? Isn't that bit slow? How about 7200 rpm instead?
