Gaming Gamespot gives MP3 an 8.5

Or, just maybe Takam, they gave it an 8.5 because it's not deserving of a 9? The Metroid Prime games aren't THAT great. They're exploration games, in 3D, with shooting. It's not like it's an original concept.

If you ask me though, anyone bitching about an 8.5 is an idiot. That's still a damn good score!

It's kind of hard to make original concepts nowadays anyway :/ I wish that i would have lived 1000 years ago lol
But anyway going to try metroid in few minutes and see formyself if it's so great hehe

Super Metroid isn't the perfect game either, you know. That game has it's flaws just like every other game. I enjoyed Super Metroid, it's probably my favorite Metroid game in the entire series, and I would give it probably an seven or eight myself.

I know that it's hard to do, but some times they manage to pull it off. It's all up to the imagination of who comes up with it. If they actually try, they'll never run out of original concepts.

guess by gamespots standards this epic, polished game doesn't quite measure up to the standards of a game like wario ware, which got a 9.1 from them. now wario ware was fun, but come on now... and mp3 is only marginally better than games like super monkey ball and madden 07? what a joke.

Bioshock is not a revolution, it's a basic FPS. I know it's not the subject of the thread, but I don't know why everybody loves this game

Nope not a revolution in terms of gameplay, but neither is MP3. The story is great the atmosphere is awesome and the gameplay is very fun. You haven't played it have you?

8.5 is a fine score and it doesn't change my opinion about wanting to play this game. I'm glad it's not getting 10's everywhere and I think It's good to get different opinions sometimes.

That doesn't make any sense.
It's really stupid of them to put MP3 on the same scale as Madden 07 and even lower then Wario Ware.
I liked wario ware but after 45 minutes I was done with it ( I might pull it out every once in a while when some friend come over for a quick show off), but honestly such a huge, epic and polished game (with the best FPS controls EVER on a video game system) any less the 9.5 in insulting at least, not to mention that they don't even put it on the front page(not even on the 3rd...4th...and so on).
I'm sick and tired of this plots bashing every Nintendo System.
I loved the GC and I think it's a great system, but because of people like that(making fun of the system's handle for example),relegating it as a kid console, it never got the success it deserved.
Now that Ninty is undeniable #1 again, they just pretend it does not exist!
I don't know about you, but I'm definitely staying away from GS.

So, their opinion didn't match your's? Just move on, or are you in with the crowd that made 1UP make a retraction because they gave a bad review? Why not just enjoy the game if you really enjoy the game? Also, I'm trying to see why people are so big on the numeral score. Do people even freaking read the damn review? All I saw was that it was a good game.

I couldnt give a rats ass about their opinion; its one of the best games ive ever played. The reason for the topic was to start a discussion. I just wanted to see other peoples take on the matter. Note the "Comment away" part. Do people even freaking read the damn original post?

Thats nitpicking :/ They might have a valid point on 1 (not far enough in to comment), but the other two? Streamlined controls means less fumbling about in menus for a start, something I didn't really like in the first two. I hope they don't get a bad case of double standards when reviewing Halo 3 or any other future game building upon a successful formulae.

I don't agree. The gamplay is very basic (weapons & magic powers), the atmosphere is good but not as good as F.E.A.R. and the story is really basic (people affected by a sort of virus ... Resident Evil, huh ?)

Biosphere is a good FPS but not the great FPS that every site claims it to be.

For Metroid Prime 3, I didn't test it but I know that Gamespot rates are always very low.

my thoughts exactly. why do people get so angry at gamespot for not giving it a 10? in all honesty, i don't know what games have received a 10 from them, but i'd think their standards are extremely high, since i don't remember any overhyped game ever getting a 10. you guys should at least be happy it didn't get something like a 7 or even lower.

They gave a Tony Hawk game on the ps2 a 10.

I agree more with GS than IGN for the moment. So far, MP1 remain my favourite on the serie. In 1 you weren't told to "go there", "do that", "you can't destroy that with your current equipment"...

MP1 had those kinda claustrophobic moments, when you feel damn alone and you feel that if you are in danger, absolutely no one will come to this hole and help you. Like the underwater pirate ship, or the space pirates labs in Phendrana, when all lights go off and you've got 10 metroids coming to you as well as pirates... I will always remember this game for those particular parts. I hope 3 will have parts like that too, for the moment I think the world I've seen so far is a bit too flowery and friendly !

let me start off with the fact you've missed the point.

My issue with gamespots reviews is not the fact that they're lower than most other reviews, but the fact they're always just close enough that people such as yourself feel you can justify it.

the fact is, gamespots review was fucking terrible, and I don't give a damn what their score was, give it a 10/10, seriously, it's still retarded.

you're making the assumption, I and others have a problem with the review simply because the score is slightly lower.

I have a problem with the fact they review like retards, and that people still deem their scores acceptable because they're within 10% of other, far more intelligent reviews.
And since their reviews are still within 10% of others, they're considered just as relevant.


if they gave MP3 a 6/10 and actually backed up that score with a proper review, I'd be happy.

Fuck Gamespot, got their hands in Sony's pocket. The site I regularly visit and trust for reviews, IGN, has given it a 9.5! I've played the game and I concur. It rocks, period!!!

I personally dislike how Bioshock got such high marks. I find it to be EXTREMELY overrated. It barely has any weapons(I unlocked every weapon in like 3 or 4 hours..). The upgrades are terrible, barely make a difference. There are so powers I ended up not even using(like security bullseye I used it on that one scripted scene, and hacked my way through the rest of the game.) Also, the vita-chambers make this game like Prey(impossible to die...). It just feels...bland to me. Sure the graphics are pretty, but far from amazing. Believe me, I've played it on a 65in. 1080p lcd tv. The enemies aren't too smart, and harder difficulties don't really make them more accurate, it just gives them ridiculous amounts of health to the point where you have to sit there and shoot at them repeatedly. I'm kinda disappointed I actually spent $60 on Bioshock. I can't really say for sure, but I think Metroid deserves it's score, not because of originality, but because it's a unique property that was improved on greatly. Bioshock tried to be a First Person Adventure at times, but it can't possibly be put up against Metroid if you consider it to be that genre.
