Sniper: Ghost Warrior sold 1 million copies, even though it got horrible reviews. Sales don't tell us anything about the quality of a product.
I'm not SAYING that the sales say it's good. I'm saying that it's not going to sell if everyone in the world thinks it's shit, so clearly, it's good to some people. Like I said, people like different things. Just because you hate it, doesn't mean someone else will actually like it (Not just mindless sheep, which is honestly the dumbest argument all the CoD, iPod, or whatever haters use). People DO buy things because they don't exactly know better, but people ALSO buy things because they like it. Who are you to tell someone what they can and can't like?

Apple just takes all the credit for a marketplace they put up.

I'd probably take credit for the thing I made too.

Is Valve not revolutionary then for Steam? I mean they made some great games but not nearly as many as all the other companies that use Steam.
Its the content that makes the appstore good, I meant to say they take credit for the content.

It's not different from when Mw3 claims to be the most anticipated game in history.. Yeah.. Bullshit.

Just because a game sells, doesn't make it amazing, Look at the call of duty series, its the same re-hashed horribleness, and sells like crack off a hookers ass. Does it make call of duty good? Fuck no.
Are you serious? A game isn't going to sell MILLIONS of copies, break pre-order records, etc. if it's not good.
Using your logic, Desperate Housewives and Vampire Diaries are good shows because they're popular. Just because a game sells well doesn't mean that it's good. Although I suppose whether something is good or not is subjective.

It's called an advertising tactic. When people hear all this amazing stuff about anything, they'll want to buy it. "Most anticipated game in history", which isn't exactly measurable on a scale, is one of those "amazing" things that people might buy something for.

If it breaks pre-order records (which I think CoD has done before), it could be marked as "the most anticipated game in history". But I don't know MW3's pre-order stats right now, so who knows.

And I don't recall Apple taking credit for the content on the store. If anything, they can take credit for making the store and making the content on the store successful.

Whether the statistics are true if done at any other time, the death of Steve Jobs put him and Apple at the front of people's minds who are focused on computer/gaming-oriented information.

What if it were good ol' Shiggy that had died prior to this poll being taken, I would imagine a shift in numbers would favor him and Nintendo.

If people within the ideo games industry can't even label Shigeru Miyamoto as the most important person to the video games industry, the person who made it all happen, then they aren't the most knowledgable people. Sure Apple has done its fair share of influencing over the years but they aren't even close to beating the NES, Donkey Kong, SMB, Wii, PS1 or many other advancements in video games that revolutionized the industry.

Yeah, I always knew that Angry Birds was the most influential game in the gaming industry. /sarcasm

Serious question: I don't get what Apple did to influence the gaming industry, or how the apps are so influential. Somebody care to enlighten me? (I didn't bother to go through every single previous posts, as most seems to be flaming and doesn't explain much)

If steve didn't die, he wouldn't be on the top of that list.

People are just "sucking him off", Just in the same way the did when Michael Jackson died.

Steve did NOT invent anything, he did not pioneer , He STOLE the idea's,

Steve refused to donate his money/Apples Money to charity, Unlike Bill Gate, who gives 50% of his money away, Funny how that works.
90% actually but yeah its the timing of when he died.

APPLE PIPPIN FTW. BEST CONSOLE EVER.

I enjoyed reading this whole thread. All the hate, fanboys and haters. I mean, Steve was the CEO of the company at the time when they released the iPhone, and the iPhone is considered a huge gaming platform among causal gamers (like my parents, grand parents, sister. Etc). And since it was released under his control, he is considered responsible for it.

Wrong. Those aren't games their playing. You can't possibly call those games. The real hardcore gamers use physical buttons, not the essential "d-pad" and "action buttons" implemented into the freakin touch screen. I would assume that the votes are only based off of quantities sold; after all, I believe there aren't as much hardcore gamers as there are casual gamers. The game industry doesn't just relate to casual gamers. It should relate to every gamer there are.

I personally think Shigeru Miyamoto did a lot more for the video game industry than Steve Jobs ever could have done. Whether he died this year or ten years from now.

Who said they are hardcore games? They're not. Still fun nonetheless.

time to pony up the facts.

what do you know of his career pre ipod and what ideas did he stole from where? and were these ideas what made apple successful? and would any of these stolen ideas survive or even be implemented successfully by any other company in the absence of apple?

he refused to sign up to bill gates pledge, this does not mean that he never donated anything. just a few weeks ago it was reported on a san francisco talk show that jobs was a large anonymous donator to amnesty international. his wife is part of several charity organizations and donates money anonymously. so what do you know about the man that we don't? he was a very private person. he was certainly busier than bill at the time of his death and sitting up charities takes a lot of effort. i'm sure you would of said 'the iphone and the ipad can wait, i have to give money away in a very public way'

I have a 64gig ipod touch 4g, and I don't have a single iOS game in it. I think they're not worth (no offense, devs) wasting flash memory and battery on the few megabytes, despite only providing me kilobytes' worth of fun (I've experienced enough with my brother's iOS games...). :P

I would concider my nintendo handheld more casual (while being hardcore at the same time, providing me a perfect experience), but the problem with nintendo handhelds is that most people think of it as a children's leisure-time killer, while considering themselves hardcore/mature gamers (lolwut).

The idevices, in the other hand, are widely know to be "cool" and "appealing" to show off (I would NEVER take my idevice to school; I payed a buttload for the 64gigs with my own money and I wouldn't let any kind of bastard touch it with all of my porn vids inside it :creep:), making the non-hardcore/mature games in it seem "not childish" compared to nintendo handhelds' games.

What!!!!
Steve Jobs on number 1!?

Apple not even making games themselves,if there were their just flashgames.Apple's stuff are overpriced, the only reason to buy them is to go to Starbucks with that Mac laptop, call using the Iphone and play Angry birds on the Ipad to brag off.

This is so biased, Shigeru Miyamoto should be first after all he has done to bring up the big Nintendo games which allot love.(Not I am saying I am a fanboy but look at the list and he has the greatest contributions for REAL video games.)
