I hope that in USA they're gonna be a little more stern, instead of just accepting Sony's large bribes
Heh, surely had he of won his legal fees would have been more than the $800 anyway?
EPIC FAIL. And more now PSGroove exist.
If he had won, he would've received the $800 + his court fees from Sony.
That was already decided, Sony did make the console so they have full control on making it more flexibility for them.
Ford did make the vehicle, so they have full control over making it more "flexibility" for them.
It doesn't really work when put in that context does it?
actually, it does if it comes with a free maintenance contract that states that during maintenance Ford is allowed to add and remove features of your vehicle.
and i'm pretty sure you have to agree again to this "maintenance contract" every time you update your PS3 or PSP.
although what does matter is if the removed feature has actually been advertised as a guaranteed feature, and whether in the country you live in EULA's and such have any legal value(i know where i live they have no legal value whatsoever, so companies can't secretly add exceptions for certain consumer rights)
Looks like the PS3 only does everything but Other OS. Shame.
Didn't the US army link up multiple thousands of these to use as computers to perform certain tasks?
Forgot what that was about.
the court just saw it as a bs claim
a person trying to take advantage of a situation to get $$$
tbh that's how I saw it as well
Not surprising, as I didn't expect the courts to do anything about this. To this day, I still think it's silly for people to rage about the removal of the feature.
to ragequit you actually have to stop buying ps3's worldwidely as a crew =3
but that will never happen so...yeah
Just because YOU don't use the feature, it doesn't mean other people don't also.
Like would-be pirates. HA! that showed them
not so fast I used YDL to do IM's when the yahoo part of ebuddy stopped working
Blast! Well, that's one Sony court case closed. I'll miss you, Other OS! It was an intriguing addition, I think.
Any details as to why they ruled that Sony had the right to remove it? I imagine they crammed it in their DMCA...
And WHY would they use it? There's not much to do with it, which is why I don't use it. The only reason why people are even complaining about it is probably because of the exploit presented in the Other OS. Even if they do have a legitimate reason for using it, I'm pretty sure whatever it is they're using it for can be done on a machine that's meant to be used as a computer and not one that's meant to be used for gaming.
One man's trash is another man's treasure
This case is typical Sony. They love screwing their own fanbase. DRE's, Root Kit Fiasco, $600 console, etc...
This company will never change. They're the most anti-consumer company in the electronics industry.
