EDIT:Problem Solved: Solution will be posted here when it's done. (please wait +- 6days for this, 'cause I won't have much time on my hands within the next 5 days)

Hi everyone,
Like many gameboymicro owners, I want to be able to connect mine to a gamecube.
If you are one of them, you've probably seen Cheap Ass gamer's solution that shows you one possibility.
I'm willing to give that one a try,

Short overview of my situation;
I have:
  • Wii (with LoZ:Four Swords)
  • Gamecube+gameboyplayer
  • 2 GBA's (purple and pink)
  • 1 GBmicro
  • 5 GBA->NGC link cables (one of them is the official one)
  • (and 1 "fourplayer-multiplayer" GBA link)
So you can see i'm so close to be playing four swords with 4 players!
All i need is a GBmicro->NGC cable, hence the reason why I made this topic.

EDIT: the following theoretical solutions would have only worked with official nintendo link cables so this isn't an option for many people i think

SOLUTION 1
Follow cheap ass gamer's solution.
What do I still need to buy?
QUOTE said:
Requirements:
1) An Official Nintendo Game Boy Micro Game Link Cable.
2) Any Gameboy Advance to Gamecube Link Cable.(CHECK)
recommended: Official Nintendo Gamecube to Game Boy Advance Connector Cable

SOLUTION 2
Meet two of my gba link cables:

The Official one:
Pic-20100608-003.jpg

The Piranha Xtreme one:
Pic-20100608-001.jpg
Pic-20100608-002.jpg

In the second picture, you'll notice that there's a hole in this one. Meaning that i could plug another cable in it!
That would reduce the problem to the same as connecting a gameboy micro to a GBA port:
like this:
micro_link_converter.gif

Meaning that if i could get my hands on a Game Boy Micro Game Link Cable and a Game Boy Micro Game Link Convertor (as seen on this site: http://www.gameboy-micro.com/accessories.htm) i could solve the problem without any soldering!

Though i'd still need a Game Boy Micro Game Link Cable and a Game Boy Micro Game Link Convertor.

Now, my question is,
Does anybody know a site where i can get these items?
Knowing that I live in Belgium, Europe.
I really can't find them, and if I do, all it says is "sold out"....
If i could get my hands on a Link Cable, it would be great!
If i could get my hands on both, the Link cable ànd Convertor, it would be awesome!!!

Many thanks in advance

I'll post a report on this for people that might find this usefull.
I took a lot of pictures, so here's proof that it's possible

Thanks!
The nintendo.com store accepts U.S. & Canadian orders only
The European Nintendo store doesn't sell the convertors :/
Or anything, really, they only give some information about it...

Thanks for the ebay link though!
I totally forgot about that one
tongue.gif

I'll try to find one that also ships to europe

you will have to look on ebay or get someone to buy it and sell it to you if the US/CA shop is the only place that sells the converter. It might cost more than it is worth getting someone to buy it for you.

For the cable, you should ask if he sends to EU or states only.

It is not an official cable, but I did find this:

Thanks!
I ordered two of them

I think i'll have to go with the soldering solution, if i can't find the convertor
(and if i can find it, there's also a limit on the money i want to spend on this)
If it works, i'll post my findings here!

Didn't the GBM-Gamecube link NOT work when using the GBM-GBA converter cable?

In any case, I'm trying to mod this cable as well now, but I discovered the cheapassgamer method will not work for me since my GBM link cable does not have pin 2 wired >_<
Am looking at your guide now and totally destroying my GBM link cable, but man, it's quite a hassle so far!
Can you perhaps expand your guide with more text and explenation?

Are we talking about the same thing?
For the GBM-GC link cable mod, the GBM link cable has to have pin 1, 2, 3 and 6 wired so it can be soldered on a GBA-GC cable. I cut my third party GBM link cable in half, but it doesn't have pin 2 wired, so I can´t solder it like that.

Rolfke didn't cut the cable in half, but just stripped off the GBM connector, but I'm not really sure what he did exactly.
I've started stripping the plug myself, but it's a helluvajob. I can try to find an official GBM link cable, or get a 4-player third party (which should have all the necessary wires connected).

Magic words here is 2 player link. If you want to use it on the GC, you need all 6.

If your asking how to make your own multi link cable for GBM, you should have made your own post rather than necro this one.
Are you even reading my posts???
'Only' pin 1, 2, 3 and 6 are needed for GC connection. I'm trying to accomplish the exact same thing as Rolfke. My GBM link cable has pin 3, 4, 5, 6 wired so I can't use it for TCCPhreak's version of the mod (which is the best mod to perform with third party cables).

And a GBM link cable is not an USB charge cable. How can you even expect me to mistake a GBM link cable for an USB charge cable??? And how can you think I would want to make a GBM link cable from a USB charge cable lol! You can't connect an USB plug to a GBM for linking now can you?

Don't read this angrily, but I just don't understand you don't understand my posts...

To add to that:
gbm03.gif

If I'm not mistaken, charging is via the outer pins (0 and 7, if you like).

So in short, I want to make a GBM-GC link cable, by merging a GBM link cable with a GBA-GC link cable (as Rolfke describes in this topic).

One of the cables on a multi-link cable will be the one you will likely want to use. The others are the ones on the daisy chain. If your getting the one without the 2nd pin, it is likely your getting one on the chain. You might end up destroying all of them just finding the one you want to use.

Fastest way is to open up the central square where you can see the wires split off and solder your GC cable to that.

I don't remember where I picked this one up but I did find one where the GC cable is already attached to a multi-link cable.

Not all GBM link cables have the 'central square'. And as TCCPhreak posted on CheapAssGamer, he got a 4-player GBM cable where all 4 had pin 2 wired, so 4 tries to mod the cable ;)
But I'm waiting for an 'official' one from eBay from Hong Kong, see how official it really is... (I don't hold my hope up high).
