Gaming Gameboy micro charge port

So I have a micro with a faulty charge port. I have searched and still can't find a replacement.
What are people's thoughts on swapping it for a micro USB port.
I doubt I will keep it so will it be a big de-value of it when looking to sell?

Yeah it's been done, sure you can find pictures and maybe even a guide. You lose the option of link cables etc, but if that isn't an issue for you then go for it.

I think I saw someone say they got a replacement socket from an adapter cable and managed to attach that to the console main board, if you wanted to go the other way.

Thanks, I stumbled across a video showing that using an adapter to get the socket but can not even find the adapter needed!!
