Hardware Gameboy games on your Gamecube

I found about 3 or 4 of these at my local gamestop for $19.99 and I have a gamecube so i'm seriously thinking of investing in one...but i wanted to see what other people thought of them.
Do they only play GBA games or can you play GB color and classic games?

also...

What all does this do?

And does anyone know if they will make something like this for the Wii in the future?

1. The Gameboy Player is basically a GBA in a different shape minus the screen, so it will play all Gameboy [Color] [Advance] games.

2. I know some games had little minigames you could download to your GBA with that, and Animal Crossing had that island thing. No need to make one for the Wii, the DS and Wii can communicate via WiFi.

Do you know about the cable you can buy that connects from your GBA to an AV connection?

First part already sorted (I am not sure about emulation on the cube which may be a better route).

The device you speak of is the GBA2TV if I am not mistaken (aka TVdeAdvance ):

They worked OK and made a fair impact (IGN has a review somewhere) but good luck finding one, I would personally suggest you invest in a TV out or something that can emulate it.

I play my GBA games on my GameCube, more than I play my GameCube games on it!

My GameStop has a used one for around 20 dollars...you should be able to find a used one online relatively cheap (you could make a WTB topic in the GBAtemp Trading Forum?).

Yeah, actually that WTB thread is a good idea. Thank you for that. I'll give a couple more weeks of searching a go, then post here and look at online sites.

Something about play gba games on the tv is just...cool.

Of course, you could also grab a cheap GBA flash cart, add a few Goomba Color compilations to it, and run that on the Gameboy Player. Advantages: play GB/GBC games you don't own physical cartridges to, plus Super Gameboy support for palettes and borders. Same with NES using PocketNES or HVCA, etc.

The cable allows you to access any GCN to GBA 'easter eggs' within a GameCube game(very few).

Also allows playing your gameboy games on a TV (using gamecube's gameboy player) and controlling them with your gameboy at the same time.
