Which is the best, most up to date game gear emulator out there?

ApprenticeMinusDS. I haven't actually tried Game Gear games yet, but I'm sure they'll work well. It emulates the Master System almost perfectly, and the Game Gear is essentially a Master System with a lower resolution screen.

as Destructobot says ApprenticeMinusDS is the new emu on the block, emulator powerhouse alexmaul also has a mastersystem/gamegear emu out there:

on the GBA there is SMSAdvance when you want master system/gamegear/SG-1000 games (which actually got an update a few days back)

There are also a few older emulators which do work and work well but SMSAdvance has more or less surpassed them now.

I just tried the Game Gear emulation on ApprenticeMinusDS and as I suspected it works very well, though I only tried a few games so far. It's a very impressive emulator, especially for its initial release.

I love emulators. I put every GG game on my memory card and they take up less space than one large DS game.
