Well, slow down is due to the number of zombies.. can be around 300 zombies at same time so, lagg ^^
try to run for some time you will see its the same :P maybe i should lower the max number.. xd

What's your opinion about my version of storyline? Probably it's a little freaky and not very long yet, but well... I want to know if continuing at this line of ideas has any sense.

Ok so first, thank you for helping me! :P
So my opinion...
Your storyline is interesting, and the beginning is a good idea, though, maybe to close from the original story line.
I mean we should make something specific to this character, give her a life, not just "welcome hero" (cf akara ^^')
I've thought about a similar start as yours, but we do learn that she cant remember anything, right after that she've been cursed and she fight to recover her memory so that we could explore all sanctuary and show things from the background of sanctuary (cf diablo1-2 manual)
To answer the question asked before, it doesn't need any programming skills to help me, you only need some tools and files from the game (or even diablo1?), so that i could make a quick guide to explain you what you need to do step by step, it's quite easy ;)

I have been a great fan of D2 for about 8 years and being part of this project is my dream. I'm waiting patiently for your guide. When I'll get what I need, we can start to make a real good game. Storyline would be thing to discuss yet, and I'm sure that new ideas would come when we start creating it. The most important thing is. We know how to begin story ;)

Exactly what i was thinking!

Just a litle up to say that i'm not dead but have much work those days so can't really work on the project, by the way i'd like to have more feedback and especially have more poll answers!
Feel free to comment everything is accepted, it is only to know what i should make next and improve the game ;)

I'm not sure if the project plans such thing (I take a guess based on the poll) but more characters to select would be good even if they would have 3-4 skills for now
Also I'm suprised that DS can handle such stuff as Diablo II graphics &c. Yes I believe in DS possibilities but that one is suprise anyway ^_^

I recommand using the orb/blaze to play for the moment as zombie spawn rate is a bit high
THE Frozen Orb? *_* One of my favourite spells from favourite element mm~

I believe I still have my Diablo II somewhere so if You will need to extract something feel free to call (but with tool or two because I don't have them around)
...I wonder if DS can handle the cows ;]

well I don't really know if I will add other chars because I wanted to make a storyline based on sorceress but it could be done "easily"
nds don't really handle d2 graphics as i convert it and lower many things but it looks nice I think,
I tried to add cows but its really big sprites so I had some problems with texture size, I may try again by splitting it, maybe.
If you can help me it would be good! I already made a small guide on extracting data, will send you later when I will be home ;)

Sorceress is my favourite class anyway so personally I'm ok if the story will be only for her
Now You mention it, I recall that cows were...like...almost 2 times bigger than player? (ok maybe 1,5 times) and making small cows is pointless, they have to sow "ph34r and such" :D
Hmm...not sure if there are other guys than zombies (didn't checked game for real yet I will do that today) but if no then...maybe...oh goash I don't remember how they are called in english version...I have on mind those small red guys with torches that are on the beginning of the game (and then for all the rest the game with names changed and palette swapped :P)
They have nice voice when they see player but not attacking yet buehehehe

I can try helping with extracting this-and-that for now, not sure if I can do anything else at the moment, I'm not good when it comes to look into someone's else code and do something to improve it xD

Aaahhh yees, Fallen Ones, they are called diffrently in polish version so I couldn't find proper words (they are like diminution of word devil...)
I will take a look in a minute or two, I must switch to "another plane" teehee
If they will have some sound (voice?) this project will gain automatically 16 points :D

Yes, i will first add sounds for the skills (teleport and fireball already have one) and then i will add some for monsters =)

I believe that WAV format and proper "quality" will do fine and keep DS CPU at lazyness state :P
You know maxmod I believe?
I'm using Aslib (which is included in PAlib, and yeah, i know, palib is bad know but i didn't want to code my own sprite system and it works fine with ulibrary)as I use mp3 for the music so i use raw files for sfx, quite the same as wav if i remember well.
I dont know(think?) if it worth changing to maxmod as i had no problem with as_lib

edit: Raw is the same as wav, but without header =)

It IS worth actually, MP3 requires a lot of power which You can spare for better things like more enemies at once, skills, engine...and many other things
I can try to find replacement for the music You use (replacement method of play that is) which will use less CPU power and memory

Yup however I find it easier to play WAV than RAW (at the code part)

Well Aslib mp3 uses arm7, as i dont really know how to use both proc at same time, it doesnt really matter, however if you can help, it could be great
Anyway it doesnt slow before 150-200 objects at the same time so (at the moment) we dont mind

It's true that as long as the code works we can skip some improvements over the code
However that one is in category that I like to correct if possible anyway (I hate MP3 format all the way :P)

Exactly, try it and you will see (or not as they are crowded) but actually it doesnt lagg until there's minimum 100 zombies
If you want to correct this then do, but the only aim of not using aslib is to use arm7 to enhance speed, and maxmod also works on arm7 even if it is less heavy, i still don't know how to work with arm7, so if you can explain me how it can be done or link me some tutorials, or even code it, tell me!
