Please help! I just googled it and it seems to be common problem with this line of devices. But im still not sure I understad how to fix it, and I want to be careful not to mess anything up o my router. (Its soo lame that I have to change things on the router even though the tablet is the one at fault)

Its a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 btw. Wifi model.

What there needed to be is a way to tell the router to stop scanning for networks if its already connected to one. But there is no such setting. Maybe there is an app that does this?

    .
    http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...0-wifi-disconnects-reconnects-constantly.html

This guy talks about "cross talk with other routers". Should I follow his advice?

I just got an app called Wifi Fixer and it shows a log.

It shows how the tablet it constantly doing network checks. Exactly once every 20 seconds.
But about 1 in 4 times it shows a fail message. Example:

    I/O Exception192.168.1.1:HTTP_FAIL:4005 ms

The message is always the same except for the amount of ms.
Normally the message looks like this:

    192.168.1.1:ICMP_OK:51ms

The amount of ms varies each time.

This guy had the same problem, downloaded wifi fixer app, and noticed the same thing. As far as can be told, he never figured out how to fix it! What the hell man.

If it connects and disconnects repeatedly, make your tablet forget this connection and set it up again.

It's probably searching for different (stronger) AP's.
Try minimizing the ammount of AP's that it has the password of as well.

I followed your advice. Told it to forget my network, then reconnected to it. It still disconnects and reconnects intermittently.

    Well...
Are you rooted and have a custom recovery?

well I want it to stop searching!

Theres only one network it knows the password to (our network), and only one network that desnt require a password. But as far as I can tell it never connects to that one, it only connects to our network over and over.

I know nothing about rooting. But this would actually fix the problem?

Okay, I checked my router settings, and it says the channel is set to automatic. (other choices are numbers 1 through 11) And next to it, it says channel 1.

So I could change it, problem is I don't know which channel to change it to. (or whether it will even solve the problem)

    inSSIDer is $19.99.
The link to Wifi Stumbler redirects me to Cisco Meraki.
That leaves the Android app Wifi Analyzer, so I guess I will check that out when I return the tablet. (at the moment I'm on a PC)

Channel 1 (along with 11) is usually the most used channel. I find that the automatic setting on routers often doesn't work very well.

Then I might change it. But is it possible for one of our devices or computers to lose internet as a result of changing this?

That WiFi analyzer app is really cool. it recommended I use channels 12 or 13. The router only goes up to channel 11 so I picked that as it was the highest rated channel from 1-11 according to the app. Everything else was pretty much one star or less.

According to the graph, now my network signal towers over the rest! Before, it was competing with a few others in the "1" group and every few seconds kept falling to 2nd place. Maybe that's why my tablet kept dropping connection.

In the time it took to write this post, I haven't been disconnected yet, so things are looking hood so far. Imagine that this would actually fix it! (Though I'm glad to be using a better channel anyway)
