Hacking G6 Real - Review

Mario Kart, Mario Hoops and Metroid download plays not working either?
How can they claim 100% Download Play compatibility if they don't even have as much as DS-X?

Ya I was surprised too. I had no cheats or reset and these did not work. Mario Kart would get to the screen where you see race stripes and it says downloading software please wait (on the non flashed DS), then the screen goes black and u hear a motor rev like it's going into the game, but the screen goes black and it says "Communication error turn the power off" and the DS with the G6 Real goes to a black screen and hangs.

Hmmno not exactly New Super Mario Bros does work on G6 DS Real, while it doesn't on R4. And the Nintendo Franchise Game theory is wrong also. Tetris=Nintendo Franchise and download play works on all, while worms isn't and only works on DS-X (and perhaps G6Real)...

and metroid and mario kart still don't work, which i'm sure you'll agree are main "nintendo franchise" games that don't work on flashcarts.

Somehow I doubt nintendo power will be reviewing flash carts.

You are only ever going to get amateur reviews of grey market products.

Costello has already had problems with download play, and it's not an assumption if someone gives you a fact.

Got a hold of the G6 Team about no homebrew working and there was no user error on my part, they stated they would be releasing a FAT Lib shortly for homebrew.

the new loader update must have fixed these probs so we may see some changes as per download play and compatibility cuz they wouldnt lie ; hurts sales

I'm with you on this one. Even though I was actually planning to sell this R4 I just ordered (I keep selling them to friends >_>), I think I'll keep this. I've already had plans with the microSDs. Love those things

No - they pretty much have the same features. Depends if you want fixed or removeable memory. The G6 will perform better (no slowdowns), whilst the R4 has an unlimited amount of storage space. If the G6 gets an update that fixes download play then that will be another plus it has, but so far download play is as broke as every other flashcart.

Not true.

Mario Kart, Metroid Prime and Mario Hoops (EURO version) are GREEN.
Works perfect on G6 DS Real.
Same for the download play. I have tried Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario 64, New Mario Bros, Metroid Prime, Starfox, Elite Beat Agents etc...
All perfect!

Only no homebrew supports for the moment, but no problems with the games.

Sorry but if your using the v1.0 software then your lying as I tried Mario Kart and Metroid several times and none worked with download play. The games themselves worked just fine, but if you try and play them with 1 DS with the G6 Real (and original firmware) and another DS with NO game,mod carts, or flashed firmware whatsoever, the DS with nothing in it will not download and play Mario Kart or Metroid.

I'm confused now... both reviews look professionally done and yet different outcomes are present in terms of the download play compatibility. I guess I'll wait for the gbatemp's review on it.
