This nonsense of M3 DS Simply / R4 DS versus G6 DS Real needs to stop, period. I don't care how minor of an observation is being made. They're all manufactured by GBAlpha. One's removable media, whereas you choose what size and speed your memory will be. The other's an all-in-one package with guarenteed top speed for all current ROMs, and yes, it will be a bit higher in price than its counterpart. It always has been. If you like removable media over internal, than that's your choice, but recommendation-wise, they are different yet equal. The only major attributes that M3DSS/R4DS have that G6DSR does not at the present time are a DLDI driver (coming soon) and a retail price. If you are a current owner of M3DSS/R4DS and are very happy, well ... join the club. I too like my M3DSS too, as seen in my review here. Just don't come out and label the G6DSR as a pointless flash card before it is even out in the marketplace. Trust me, it's far from useless.

Danny (GBAlpha representative) has stated that the planned retail window is aimed during this month, but if it gets delayed a month due to any production issues, so be it. The plan is to have enough product on-hand to ensure everyone who wants one gets it. We've seen other cards with shortage issues in the past, even from GBAlpha, and it's not a pleasant experience to wait for weeks. Also, he made it adamently clear that the price for the 8GBit model will not be made public until stock is ready to ship to resellers in order to combat any competitor attempting to take an early advantage. Therefore, until you hear it officially, every statement about the cost is speculation, not fact. In addition, the 16Gbit model will follow later this year. M3 DS Real is still coming as well, with an expected summer debut. GBAlpha products usually topple over the competition, because they keep up with the updates (along with a big hand from Team R4) and offer options within their product lines that others try to emulate or completely miss the mark.

For all of you aiming to buy a G6 DS Real, having it in-hand myself right now, I strongly feel that you won't be dissapointed. You just need to be patient a bit longer. When the price debuts and shops start taking pre-orders, everyone will hear about it.

and still no news whether download play will be fixed.

anyhow i've been waiting for ages for it to be released.

well we will just have to wait and see, if its any good, if the price is right it will easily top ds-xtreme as the best slot 1 flash cart with built in memory, although according to the gbatemp review of it, it is still very buggy, lets hope they find a way to fix the bugs before launch and not release a card with horrible firmware like others have, i hope they fix the load time, and add in instant saving, i find it strange that a it saves on reboot instead of instantly like R4/M3 simply etc.....

This talk of a delayed 2 gig version has me thinking, did the 1 gig version of G6 Lite ever come out or was that all talk?

As far as I know the 1gig version was never released. That being said, 512MB has been plenty for me, but I can understand those that might need/want more.

So... does this mean the G6 Real is better than the R4?

Just kidding, don't kill me... [IMG]

Man, this price speculation is killing me. The end price doesn't mean manufacture price plus a profit margin, it means "manufacturing price + whatever we can get away with, i.e. whatever the people are willing to pay, but lower than the competitors' cost, or their cost plus a quality bonus, because if our product is 50% better, our price can only be 40% higher, only not too much lower than that because it's eating into our profits, and we can't say anything about a price because if the competitors get wind of it before we announce it they'll announce their price to be slightly lower than ours, and then we're screwed, because we end up being more expensive, but if we then drop the price everyone will think there's something wrong with the product...." [IMG]

Oh, yeah, and then there's the products that are sold for under the manufacture price, at a loss for the manufacturer, because the product will pay itself off by creating a customer base....
(And not to mention that any store hides their retail price until launch date because they know another store will undermine them by 1 cent if they find out the price before announcing their own... )

I used to think the "to be announced" or "price on personal inquiry" you find in magazines, in the "price" box in a review was a load of bull, but now I see it's there because of all the pricing MADNESS!!!

lets just hope they are not overcharging like ds-xrip off, i mean come one they are selling the 2gb for $125 and lowering their 512mb version to $100, wtf a 25 dollar difference for 3/4 the size, if the ds-xtreme 2gb is 125 then the 5121mb should be $30-40 not $100.

I know what you're saying, I always find it hard to fill up the last third or fourth of my 512MB with games I'm actually going to play. I'm sure for some people the space limitation is more of an issue. Even so, I would hesitate to buy a 1GB DS Real knowing there is a planned 2GB down the road.

Well as TheSpade said, just to be fair, Danny from the G6 team did say a while back that the 2GB G6 Lite might not ever become a reality due to reasons beyond his control. The M3/G6 team is one of the only manufacturers that keeps their fans/customers updated with periodic announcements and releases. Try sending an email to the SuperCard team and getting a response. I'm sure the M3 team will release by the end of this month although I do think the price will be a tad on the expensive side. I mean hell, the G6 Lite is still selling for a pretty penny.

I find every discussion about a flashcart pointlesss until it gets released and can be compared.

Like already said, G6/M3 team always kept up with updates and support was always good (Yeah try sending an e-mail to the some other well known DS flashcard ******, i got a reply a year later after sending several mail.)

I'm very happy with the R4 support and also Neoflash team is very helpfull and good on answers with there MK5

But there is no point in breaking down flashcards just on there specs and reputation or delays (mostly delays are good for the customer, who wants to buy a product that only half works cause of the rush?) before the card is out.
