Certainly! As stated there, Maschell will be releasing a blog post about the discovery very soon :)

Yep yep. As far as what this entails for the end-user, I will leave that up to Maschell and co. to tease, but I can promise you that the overall experience will be better than before. More technically inclined users can read up on what he has done on his blog.

In the meantime, maybe hold off on buying Brain Age if you were thinking about getting it for CHBC :P

I can see that it's definitely exciting that there are more possibilities that this can bring to the end user over CBHC, but I just can't figure out from what all he's saying what exactly those possibilities will be.

Here are the possible remaining things I can only hope to happen to the Wii U, and I have my doubts this will make any of them possible, but with nowhere else to go, maybe listing off what maybe they could be, could help me recognize what they will be:

-Automatically boot with certain plugins enabled, without having to launch the plugin system. I bet this could happen, though honestly I think we could probably configure CBHC to do this right now with a forked version of WUPL that just reads a config file when launched to know what plugins to automatically load or not without entering the gui, and then setting CBHC to boot the WUPL homebrew automatically at start.
-Overclocked all things vWii. Could we see shorter load times on actual Wii games one day, not just better performance of things like Wii64/Not64 or WiiSXrx? This seems feasible to me.
-More than 300 titles on the home menu? Super doubtful on this, to this day we still haven't found where this restriction is located on the 3DS or Wii U. But hell if this could bypass or change this limit, that'd be amazing.
-Control Wii games with Gamecube controllers that were never programmed for it? I understand this is actually something coming, including being able to map motion control gestures to individual buttons on the controller, but I'm almost certain this isn't tied to anything we're talking about here.

From there, I dunno, I really don't know what other things we could hope to make the Wii U do that isn't just more about specific homebrew and emulators we'd like to see on the system.

Woah and I thought we would have to wait for a WiiU leak for getting something like this, can't wait for it to be officially released by Maschell

In my opinion it is more important to find a solution for the vWii video issues and a hack that emulates a Wii controller on a WiiU Gamepad in order to play Wii games on the Gamepad independently from a TV and a separate controller!

We can already do that for any Wii game that could be played with the classic controller, via injects, and with some extra work prior to the inject we can do so for Wii games that were played with the Wiimote held horizontally like NSMBW, DKCR, or Megaman 9 and 10.

Granted this doesn't cover every Wii game, especially those that played with motion controls and the nunchuk, but the capability to play Wii games with just the Wii U gamepad has been available for a few years at this point.

Yeah it true I did quite a few that way... Using tecmoons tool.. It's really cool that it gives you the option before you launch the game

It'd be great that we could archive more than just buttons that emulate other controllers, the Gamepad has many features that could be used, not asking for much as touchscreen is prettu much locked om vWii mode but the gyro could really be taken to do the stuff it did at the 3DAllStars Collection.

Yeah, seems feasible that the Gamepad's gyro could be used, but I imagine without Nintendo ever directly implementing such a feature, we'll never discover how to implement it ourselves. Same goes for connecting a second Gamepad to the Wii U, something Nintendo said the system was capable of, but they never implemented it with a firmware update or anything. Without that update, the scene likely will never figure out how to implement it either.

while we don't have the new CBHC, one utility for this is making patched/modded games run without the need of a CFW, or converting a crappy game into a homebrew

Actually I can't believe I only just now realized this, I went into the Wii U's parental controls app for the first time, and found it could be just as limiting as I could ever need it to be. You can have it so that data management and only data management is only accessible after putting in a pin assigned through the parental controls app. This is fantastic, you can still go and change internet settings as need be or play an M rated game without any prompt, yet if you try to move/delete data or Delete All Content and Settings (a menu option that even this new hack would never be able to remove), it asks for the pin. Now there is literally no way my nephews could possibly brick my Wii U, unless they guess the 1 in 10,000 digit number; which I genuinely can't fathom why they'd be so interested when so much more fun is available on the device. And again, I can always remove an app like FTPiiU when lending it to the kids. So I'd say it's a pretty safe system at this point in the hands of any children, even with CBHC installed.

Sorry to jump back a bit here but NSMBW cannot be played with gamepad unless I'm missing something?

hmm...that's what I have setup with my 360 jtag. I have it to setup to block xbox live just in case of any accidents. normally, you're banned within minutes of signing in unless using some sort of stealth thing. there's a way around parental controls on that system though based on sku number, but afaik, there's no workaround with the wii u, so best remember or write down the pin.

nah it can't. DKCR also needs some patches to the iso before anything, there is info about that on the compatibility list for vWii injects.

That one is a theoretical, it should be possible if someone patched a Wii classic controller scheme to it like DKCR.

haha no worries about that, I only use like 3 pins in my life and have so for ages, they're not being forgotten anytime soon.

Yes, that's why another, just another gigaleak with WiiU stuff would be exciting, as well as whatever the homebrew scene can do after that. Currently you can play a limited amount of games with the Gamepad, and even so you can't play games that use the Nunchuk or pointing controls. If we could get around this the Wii U would be the perfect Nintendo based emulation console. Mind you that the Wii U Pro Controllers are recognized by the console as a WiiMote accesory so if the correct person looks into it we could see if we can get Wii U Pro Controller support too (just guessing)
