Finally managed to source a switch that could be modded up using custom firmware

spent all day trying to get this to work first thoughts:

- this is a lot tougher and tricker than the wii u modding
- getting into RCM is an absolute nightmare
- Wasn't able to get tin foil to work

I managed to mod the console, inject payloads and even run some backups
I also think at some point I enabled auto rcm

my last action so far was to shut the console down, now it just won't power on at all

I tried the 12 second power button and the volume + and - but the console is just totally black screened
i see no power on this at all

anyone got any suggestions? could the pins be damaged

my aim today was to get tinfoil working so i could download games but that's been shattered... been a dissapointing day for sure
this is not as easy as the switch or enjoyable so far.

I know not if this is outdated knowledge I'm giving, but as far as I know you still have to send a payload with AutoRCM; just plug your switch into whatever you use to send payloads and see what that does for ya

yer the pc is no longer detecting the console it says no rcm

Do I have to do this with the pins grounded btw?

Have you tried leaving the console to charge on the dock/official charger for a while then trying to boot w/RCM?

My completely dead AutoRCM enabled console had to be charged for a short while before I could boot it with RCM.

I would suggest looking at a dongle with jig if they're still relatively cheap, makes things easier.

For what? If you don't have autorcm the console would start directly in OFW without needing anything and if you have autorcm don't need tinfoil to put it in rcm mode. What amount of time you leave the console alone after the shutdown? Did you put it in the dock or charger after that?

I’m not sure what you mean, for clarity, by dongle I’m referring to a small device which injects the RCM payload through the USB-C port on the switch.

No, if you have autrocm don't need to do that. Try this, put the console directly in the charger and afer that press the power buton 20 seconds and wait some hours to be charger. After that try to send the payload.

not if autorcm is installed. I fixed my friend's switch not booting by leaving it plugged into the official charger cord directly for half an hour, then immediately plugging it into my laptop and sending hekate
Good luck

if you set the Auto RCM YOU DON'T NEED the jig on the right rail, YOU NEEVER SHOULD USED THE PAPER CLIP METHOD is like you destroy the contact of the rail or make a short cut and could fuse some internal component a jig is very cheap ~1USD or a payload injector including a jig could cost 15 USD.

Check the rail with a microscope and test again.
