So my friend is deciding to buy a barebone PC kit (Asus M2N68-AM SE2 Barebone Kit) the link to the kit is here ---> http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...6&CatId=332
He's wondering if it's a good deal, if he gets this kit he would upgrade the GPU to either his 9500GT or sell the 9500GT and the GPU in the kit and buy a 9800GT with 512mb of DDR3 video memory
Link to the GPU ---> http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...&CatId=3670

So is this a good idea/deal ? Thats 350$ in Canadian for the kit, and another 140$ Canadian for the video card (and if he returns his 9500GT he will get back another $70)

He's also wondering how overclockable the CPU is in the kit.

Thanks for any advice, my friend really appreciates it.

For the GPU, why not get a GTS 250 or an ATI 4850 for that price.

The GTS 250 is a 9800GTX+, which is much better than the 9800GT for a comparable price.

ATI 4850:

If he gets his money together get the ATI 4870:

GTS 250:

GTX 260 core 216:

that phenom isn't worth overclocking imo. some of the intel dual cores do better for a lower price. if i were your mate i'd get a x2 550 be with a decent mobo and unlock the extra cores for a much better quad.

but with that phenom and that mobo. i think you'd be lucky to get to 2.4ghz. the no name PSU isn't helping with it either. the first gen phenoms aren't known to overclock. especially this quadcore.
