Booted up freeshop. Searched Bravely Second. Okay, there's two that should be in English: American version and European. I tried American....and when i booted it up it was the Japanese version. Okay.. lets uninstall and grab the European version...Yeah it's STILL the Japanese version.

Is there some issue here that I can fix, or was someone just trolling and decided to waste people's time?

Is your console Japanese? If so it might be using that language by default

Is your 3DS JPN Version? If so that could be why.

    Between insane and insecure
First: You aren't even in the right section
Second: This is your second thread about this issue, there's no reason for that
Third: This is a freeShop related issue and should just stay in the freeShop thread
Fourth: Make sure your system is set to the right region or not accidentally set to Japanese.

Set to the right region? And how do I do that exactly? And it's not my second thread about this issue exactly.

Or is your system already a US system?

It IS indeed a Japanese system. That's why I needed help with it and wondering why it's downloading only the Japanese version of this particular game, and how to fix the issue.

For this you would put USA EN in the .txt file
Enable region/language emulation and external .code: Enables the following two features:
    • The region/language emulation feature allows some games which need a specific language to be set to work, and DLCs for foreign games to load. To use it:
      • Create a folder named locales inside luma.
      • Create a .txt file with game's title id as the name (look them up on www.3dsdb.com).
      • Inside the file,
        • Put 3 characters for the region ("JPN", "USA", "EUR", "AUS", "CHN", "KOR", "TWN").
        • Put an empty space.
        • Put 2 characters for the language ("JP", "EN", "FR", "DE", "IT", "ES", "ZH", "KO", "NL", "PT", "RU", "TW").
      • For example, to play Pokémon™ Y in Japanese language and region:
        • Create 0004000000055E00.txt.
        • Put in JPN JP.
        • Save.

I did this..but again, the second part of the guide tells me to get a patched code.bin for the game? No clue how to go about that.

You don't need a code.bin. Only do the first part.
That is the first half of the guide. Thatis the part he needs

    So I DONT need a patched code.bin?

I simply put that .text file in to the new folder it specified, boot up normally, go to freeshop, and try the download again?

You put the txt file in the folder and turn on Enable region/language emulation and external .code in luma settings by holding start before boot.

Okay...I'll attempt it. It takes...a very long time to download that game so. Here's hoping it actually works this time.
