I don't have a phone number for WhatsApp because I am using the wifi only. Is there a free text sms for WhatsApp ? I looked at Google but I am not sure if they are safe to use. That's why I am asking here. Anybody knows ?

If you are US citizen, yes. We rest in the World, no.

I am both dual citizen. Can I ?

Just setup a Google Voice account, it takes seconds.

I didn't know about that. Does it works in Portugal ? I am dual citizens and I have other home in America. I prefer free because I want to use text in America and in Portugal as well as in UK. I use Wifi only.

There's no such reliable service (remember that, unlike for example telegram, it is single device only so that anyone reusing the number could permanently kick you out)

Your best bet is asking a relative who doesn't use smartphones

@Veho, Sounds and smells like bullshit. They don't give you cancer, and California should know that. I don't get why they stick labels that say "may or may not cause reproductive harm or cancer".
