Free Friend’s Pass and Crossplay feature for 'Split Fiction' detailed

EA and Hazelight Studios' split-screen co-op game Split Fiction is coming in a few weeks' time. Ahead of its release, they have today highlighted the return of Hazelight’s signature feature, Friend’s Pass. It allows players to share in the co-op experience with a friend for free with just one copy of the game, with crossplay support. A brief trailer was aired to describe how it works:

In Split Fiction, players collaborate as fantasy writer Zoe and sci-fi author Mio, two opposites who must work together to escape a simulation of worlds created from their own written stories. Designed for two, Split Fiction is a true co-op adventure where players can dive into genre-jumping gameplay and build their teamwork skills while journeying through incredible sci-fi and fantasy worlds.

Using the Friend’s Pass to play Split Fiction will require a free EA Account, and you can sign up for one here. Split Fiction will launch on March 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and the EA app for $50.

why keep complaining over and over on each thread for the game and continue to contribute nothing of value to the conversation?
Because it’s a forum and my contribution is hating on EA.

What exactly is your contribution here?

Mine is to second the opinion that EA is a publisher worth avoiding, no matter the game.
if a company has only been offering you crap for years and has no intention of offering anything else, wouldn't you hate them too?

I personally wouldn't care about most of their new stuff, because I don't have to buy from them. But if we're talking about those times when they massacred their rather decent franchises (examples: C&C4, NfS Most Wanted 2012, Dungeon Keeper on mobile) and shut down lots of studios that made those franchises great... yeah, I think hate is the appropriate word.

it's Hazelight. they have worked with EA to publish their games since It Takes Two.
*since A Way Out.

Actually, I'm with The Catboy on this one. The fact that this game's under EA's ownership already puts it in the "Avoid" tab of my list. Was already wary of them even before the whole "pride and accomplishment" fiasco, and wrote them off entirely after that.

Plus, the game doesn't look that great, and I'm not one of those that treats the developer like they can do no wrong after one game's success.

Friend pass is cool, but the sucky thing is you don't get achievements. It would be better if the friend pass was through Steam, so then you could still get achievements. My friend was bummed about not being able to get achievements when we played It Takes Two, so the friend pass is sadly no good to us, since neither of us is willing to skip out on achievements.

I loved It Takes Two, so I'm very hyped for this. Truly great coop experiences are few and far between, so often multiplayer feels tacked on to single player games.
i thought A Way Out came afterwards
Nah. I've played both, and both are great games, but A Way Out was clearly just them testing out the concept, before trying something bigger. It's much shorter, and there's less direct interaction between the players.

Its published by EA but the prevous titles "A Way Out" and especially "It takes Two" were absolutely stunning couch co-op experiences and I am therefore very interested in this title. If you haven't played them and are slightly interested in couch coop they are very cheap nowaday and should not be missed as a rare coop gem. According to Steam Split Fiction will also have local (couch) coop.
