Don't ask me how, but I managed to corrupt my Gamecube memory card using GCMM. When I boot it up with the memory card plugged in, if I try to copy a save to it, it will say file/dir error. If I take it out and plug it back in, or boot it without it in and plug it in afterward, I can copy saves to and from it. However, if I copy Animal Crossing's save file, it will say that there's not enough space on the card. There was enough space before it corrupted, which leads me to believe that GCMM didn't delete a save file correctly. No matter, even when I manage to copy a save file onto the card, the corresponding game I play will give an error such as "The memory card in Slot A is corrupted." or "The memory card in Slot A must be formatted", so it doesn't really matter that I found a way to copy saves to and from.
I thought no biggie, I'll just reformat it with the Wii system menu, but it seems that the Wii system menu has no such feature. Instead, it says "The device inserted in Slot A cannot be used." Darn. :/
I understand that the Gamecube can format corrupted memory cards, but I don't own one and none of my friends do, either. One option is that I could probably send the memory card to my sister in Arizona who does have a Gamecube, but I want to do that as a last resort.
Is there anything I can do with the Wii, such as a homebrew program, should I send it to my sister, or should I not even bother with it and buy another card online?
Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply!
None of the games I own had the option to format corrupt cards but fortunately, I was able to get a hold of a Gamecube today and I was able to format the card using that. It's working again, I'm happy that I have a working card again. Thank you for your help and hopefully I don't mess it up again!

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha

@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
