Recently, without really anything happening when I hook up my PSP to the PC via a usb connector cable, none of the folders or data on the memory card show up. It's all still there as my saves and games and whatnot still work, my music is still on it, etc. It's just I can't see it for some reason.

What I plan on doing if I can't fix it is just play out all the games I have, and then format the memory card via the PSP after I'm done, but it would be nice if there was a more convenient, less data-losing way to go about it.

Maybe the folders are marked hidden for some reason? Enable the viewing of hidden folders if you haven't done so and report back.

To enable the viewing of hidden folders:
(In any window) Tools> Folder Options> View> Mark "Show hidden files and folders"

Go into recovery and check what the USB is set to. It can be set to UMD or the various intern Flash memory. You have to set it to memory stick.

One possibility is that there could be a fracture in the USB cable. If this is the case, and connection is lost even for a split second, then windows sometimes stops being able to "see" the files/folders (I've noticed this on XP and Vista). Being careful with your USB cable, or just using a different one can solve this, but if it's something else... see above solutions.

A symptom if this is the case is that the PSP tells you something like "if you are encountering problems blahblah disable USB charge". I've never seen this message appear for anything other than the above problem, so it's likely that it's the USB cable.

That has happened to me once. What I did that fixed it was going into the PSP recovery menu by holding R as you turn on your PSP and turn USB charge to OFF. Then go into the XMB and also turn USB charge to OFF. Sometimes the USB charging messes up the connectivity.

I don't know if it's relevant, but when i was fiddling around with homebrew on my DS (R4, 2GB Kingston MicroSD) I accidently corrupted my MicroSD. My PC (Windows XP x86) couldn't find it no matter which USB-cardreader I used. However, my DS could still use it normally and everything worked. In the end I had to use a camera to format the card.

This, I guess, is only relevant if it's the memorycard that has become corrupted but it's a possibility. Have you tried a USB-cardreader?

Thanks for the replies, I've been gone, but I shall try what you said.

I've already tried the followiong:
*Checked the USB cable, it still moves files onto and off of the PSP no problem.
*Going into folder options and enabling viewing of hidden folders.

The rest I shall have to try.
