FMA: Brotherhood, Im a little confused

    i just finished watching the series and on the last ep. Al said "they couldnt save her" who is it? i cant remember.

    They're refering to Shou Tucker's daughter, Nina who was transmuted into a chimera with her dog Alexander by his father.
    They realize that even with the knowledge they gained wasn't enough to turn them to normal again...

    Yup. That whole arc with Nina was really, really scarring on Al and Ed. Perhaps as much as their failed human transmutation. They dwell on it all series long.

    The one who got turned into a chimera, and then was..blown up by Scar....
    Is it just me, or was the first anime's rendition of that scene much more gruesome?

    The first anime stretched out the part of the manga that it actually followed, so by the time we got around to Shou transmuting Nina, they'd actually spent a good bit of time on both those characters.
